I'm guessing you're wondering if this cartridge will fit in the "big blue" filter housing, which is shorter. They refer to it as a 10"4" average filter size, even though it is closer to 13"7". 5". That's a great question, because it doesn't specify which housing to use with it anywhere. br>This cartridge's dimensions are shown as 4. 6"×4. 6"×9. 8". The Big Blue® housing is approximately 7.75 inches long by 7.75 inches wide by 7.75 inches tall. 25"×7. 25"13" and a filter size of about 4" are required. 5"×10". I use this housing and filter combo. The cartridge fits snugly in the housing and allows for proper water flow.

We had previously purchased Pentek filters and were very pleased with them. This filter, however, is not one of them. After two (2) weeks of use, we could smell the 'chlorine' again. However, we decided to keep using it to see if the problem was due to a faulty water softener regeneration. This was not the case, unfortunately. For about two (2) weeks, this filter worked as hard as it could, and then it was done. We were one (1) day late for our return, and I couldn't find a way to contact Pentek directly anywhere on their website. It seems like a waste of money to have to spend $50 and not have access to customer service. A valuable lesson has been learned.
Between each big blue in my water filter, I installed gauges. I haven't used any other carbon filters yet, but I can tell you that the pressure dropped from 65 psi on the inlet side to 25 psi on the outlet side. At 25 psi, you can still get a good shower, but when I replace this carbon filter, I'm going to try something different. br>br>I haven't sent any samples because the water company provides me with "safe" water. I can tell it's working because the water quality and taste have both improved. br>br>I'll keep you updated if anything changes or if I take any samples.

When I got my filter in August, it didn't even last a month, despite the fact that it usually lasts two months. 4 months, depending on the quality of the outside waterbr>2. I received two filters in September; one of them didn't let any water through, causing overflow on my floor, so I had to open another one that I had planned to use later. Then I noticed that the logo was different from the previous one; it wasn't a Pentek, as stated in my order, but a Pentaire, spelled incorrectly. So, do you think it's a knock-off? br> The second filter from this order works for the time being, but I'm not sure how long it will last. br>Now I need a backup filter as soon as possible, but I'm having serious reservations about this subscription seller.
150A housing for the entire house - However, it was put to use as a sink. Whole-house filter cartridges are less expensive and filter much faster than "under-sink" advertised products. This filter worked great, fit in the housing, and made the water taste almost as good as our rainwater system with a four-stage UV filtration system at another house, but for a lot less money. We don't do a separate sediment step; this is the only one we do. If the filter does not perform well in the future, I will update the review. br>br>1/10/2013 Update - It's still under our sink, hasn't leaked since the day we put it in, and the water has tasted perfectly filtered ever since. We have it connected to the cold side of the kitchen sink, so it filters ALL cold water. You can imagine how many gallons have passed through it since it was first installed, and it still looks brand new. An undersink one would not have lasted nearly as long. Also, the ones that go under the sink can't move the water very fast. Due to the fact that this is a comprehensive analysis, It easily handles the pressure in the house filter. You can't tell the difference between before and after it was installed, and you wouldn't even notice if it wasn't pointed out to you. br>br>I'll probably keep an eye on these and buy a few as replacements when the price drops.
The last one I got was an eighth of an inch shorter than the previous one, so I had to double up the gasket on one end to keep it from rattling around in the housing. I'm hoping this is a one-time occurrence, because I'm not sure how effective this will be under pressure in the long run. I've had mixed experiences with this product in terms of packaging and quality, but it smells great. I use it in conjunction with a softener and iron salt for the sole purpose of eliminating odor, and it does so without causing any significant pressure reduction. I would give it five stars if the quality was more consistent.
applications for the home: There is no pressure drop, and the softeners are also protected. For years, I've used this filter in conjunction with my Big Blue housing. I clean up my act. In my house, I have clear water at all times. Although I now prefer tap water, 'others' in the house still prefer bottled water. Note: They all chose tap water over bottled water in a blind taste test! This is what I use before my softener to remove the sediment. Because of this filter, the softener media has lasted much longer than it should have.

For two months, it eliminates all of my chlorine issues. I've used a lot of them and plan to keep doing so! BUT BEWARE: Amazon shipping allows the heavy filter to bang around in the shipping box, and the filter casing has now broken twice. Look at the image. It hasn't yet hampered filtration, but it does have some disadvantages.
