They can rust, and they will rust! A new home, a new deck or porch

The month of October is approaching. . . . Galvanized and/or stainless steel fasteners were used to build the deck / porch. The washers were required to prevent the boards from splitting near the ends or edges, as well as to add a finishing touch to my project; they are highly visible, and they look good. . . . . . Until the sky opened up and the rains began to fall. The washers are starting to rust, and winter has only just begun; there hasn't been any snow yet. . . . I purchased and installed a total of 2000 of these washers, and I'm not looking forward to seeing the results of winter's wrath next spring.
