Questions & Answers

Is this stainless steel of a particular grade? Will it withstand rust for a long time if I install it on my wooden hot rod?

These are 18-gauge wires of the standard variety. Stainless washers with a grade of 304. Yes, they are resistant to rust and corrosion.

Are these compatible with drywall and deck screw sizes?

I simply inserted an 8 x 2" deck screw into one of the eight cup/finishing washers, and it fit perfectly. The only difference I noticed was that the deck screw's head has a slightly larger diameter than the washer's, causing it to sit slightly higher in the washer. It sits slightly higher than a standard sheet metal or machine screw, which is difficult to notice. I hope this information is useful. Thanks!

At best, 410 degrees Fahrenheit, with a strong magnetic field. Look at the image. Low-grade 410 or possibly mild steel is being passed off as high-quality 18/8 (300 series) by this seller. It isn't the case. In a salty environment, these will rust in a matter of weeks. See the photo of these washers clinging to a magnet in the attachment.

They're made of stainless steel

Aside from the fact that they're stainless, these finish washers aren't any better or worse than a thousand other brands. br>They have the same design flaw as every other finish washer I've ever used: they're razor-sharp around the outside perimeter. As a result, if you use them on wood, the outer rim will carve a circle into it. Worse, if you use these on upholstery, cloth, or leather, those razor sharp edges will cut a neat round hole in the material unless you use a regular washer that is just a smidgeon larger between these and the material at hand.

They appear to function properly

They appear to be in good condition, with no excessively thin metal. When the screws are tightened, they complete their intended function without deforming. Are they actually made of stainless steel? The only way to find out is to wait.
