Those screws do come with a star drive that can be inserted into a magnetic drive guide, which makes them easy to interchange. If you were offended by DWW's previous irresponsible post, when he stated, "He throws the star drive he was given into the scrap bin.", don't get mad at him. A drive guide is probably something he has never heard of since he is still learning how to drive.

A well-made product. This book is well worth the price. In this category, these screws are well-machined and finished, and they have other features not found elsewhere. It is crucial that you understand how these features can save you time and money before you decide whether they are the right screws for your project. At the top of the page, you will notice the Torx or star Six points on a star are more than four on a Phillips screwdriver, therefore the torx is expected to perform better than its ancestor, seeing as more points are better. Yet, the truly innovative feature of this design is that the bit has virtually no taper. Because Phillips screwdriver bits taper to a point, the way they are shaped makes it almost impossible to stay in your screwdriver bit holder. It is near perpendicular to the head of a torx screw that the walls of its recess are. It allows for dramatically more torque to be transferred to the screw without the risk of it Due to the fact that you want the screw to drill the hole in the wood and not your screwgun bit, this feature will be of great value. It is located just to the right, just on the other side of the countersunk screw head, and may be missed unless you are looking for it. It is expected that you will drive a preliminary pilot hole that is nearly the same size and shape as the screw you will be using. If you only use a screw gun and no pilot hole, the screw will rest slightly above the surface, because it does not have In much the same way that a nail does, the screw just compresses the wood out of its way. These Hillman brand screws feature six sharply raised ridges or nibs on the angled surface of the head. By scraping the wood away with these nibs, as the screw is driven into the wood, a matching recess is created so the screw can sink to an even depth, or even below it if needed. There is an aggressive thread pattern on the shaft that will help hold your project together firmly. This screws are easy to insert due to their protective coating, which has a similar look to Teflon. Self drilling tip allows this user to complete that task as easily as possible. This is the last feature made possible by the superior simplicity of this machine.
It is however, this last feature that requires a word of caution. There is no miracle in this item, it's a screw. In order to pull wood out of the hole, the shaft of the screw is not designed to do so. In that case, a pilot hole still needs to be drilled if you are driving them into the end of a board. There is no need to countersink it, but you shouldn't drive a wedge into the end of a board and expect it will not For leaving a positive review, I did not receive anything in return. Whenever I buy on Amazon, I rely on the review. This is my way of paying forward, and a small gesture to thank the company for their hard work.
These are far too difficult to use. These are cheap, and that's what makes them great. I find however that they are less rugged than spax in a number of ways. Unless you drive it in again, this head tends to tear more easily once you drive it in, you can almost never It is not recommended to drive it again after pulling it out because going back in will strip the head, so you will have to use vice grips to undo As far as I can tell, I've re-used the same screws three or four times in places without getting disappointed by the As a general rule, if I plan on drilling at any kind of angle into wall studs, I need to predrill the holes in order to prevent the head from In a way, it defeats the whole purpose of having self-tapping When the screw is being inserted at the perfect 90 degree angle, the hole doesn't need to be predrilled, but if it's going into a corner, the hole must be predrilled or the screw will come loose and fall out. There is no such problem with spax, because the spax head has a little centering nub that keeps the head square and centered Since they are all patterned as stars and more prone to slipping, they should not be used. There is no sawdust that comes out of the top of the hole on spax screws because they have a self tapping end that is much better quality. These have never shown any sawdust coming out of the hole automatically, which supports the notion that it's a good idea to predrill the hole so that a stripped head won't occur. In a nutshell The price of spax is higher, but the results are.
bought approximately 900 screws for a deck project involving pressure treated wood, and I love them. The 3. used an impact driver to drive the wheels. It was very easy to screw through the wood with 5" screws. Drill points perform better than competing products, and the drill points I tested out performed better than other products in the big box. I did the pre-casting on the joints Prepare the hole so that it does not split. Below are two pictures I submitted for your You do not do it at a joint, you do it It is impossible for me to express how pleased I am with such a high-performance.
As has become a tradition, the product was delivered on time. But the bag of screws was torn open when the plastic container of screws broke open. It didn't matter that I couldn't count all of the screws and my order was only 31 short. There is nothing remotely appropriate about the product leaving the facility in this condition. I don't think the driver should have delivered it or left me a message if the product left the facility in this condition. I ordered the product and it is exactly what I wanted.
You are on Star Drive. A spaceship isn't the only craft that can travel in space. I love how these screws look! The screw head and driver are less sensitive to misalignment with these screws than Phillips. In addition to the screw tip, the tip has a drill blade. When you drive a screw in and back it out, the chips fall out and a hole appears as though you had drilled it. This is the first time I've seen this kind of product and I'm impressed.
I guess they weren't the correct fastener for my application. It must be said that the coating was a little odd and definitely made a difference in how they performed. As far as I can tell, this type of coating isn't usually found on As for the weak screws, they seemed just as likely to break as any others Ives had.
This screw is high quality! Since I am not forced to go to Home Depot or Lowe's to get them at around the same price, that is wonderful to me.
I love it. For 5 pounds of coated screws, this is a great price. The posts and board support type of cedar fence (not the pickets) were mounted with them.
