Questions & Answers

In cement block construction, do anchors need to be used?

It is for that purpose that I use them. Make sure your body stays 3 inches from the edge of any corner or window so that you don't crack the frame.

Do you think it will work with stukko in a wood frame structure?

Yes, it is. If you wanted to drill through stucco, you would probably need to use a concrete drill bit, then after you get through the stucco, use either a wood drill bit or a metal bit. You should be able to use it.

How do you use these with aluminum hurricane shutters or flat boards?

For 5/8" plywood, I used these. It is sufficient as long as the protective item can be drilled and has enough strength to hold the blade - It consists of nuts (i.e. Winds should not go through any flat medium by pulling through the material), or any flat medium with proper impact protection from the wind. It will work with borne objects.

Have any of you used it with 3/4" plywood?

If you're using 3/4" plywood, the products can be used.

I would like to see a better picture and description
4/5

We received two sets for comparison and compared the one we received to a non-official copy It is made from stainless steel. Here are some initial comments and pictures that might be helpful for others. Presented in a snap-shut plastic container, the package comes in a convenient size. There are screws, wingnuts, drill bits, nut drivers, drill bits, and covers included in the kit. To compare the stainless screw with a painted one, I compared it to a metallic In terms of height, as well as diameter, they are identical. Therefore, their length (3 1/2 inches) and diameter at the bottom (17/64 inch) are the same. In stainless steel, the top threads at the edge of wingnuts The stainless steel is more attractive to me as I live in Florida, whereas I would have chosen.

Installation can be somewhat challenging, but they do the job
4/5

You should be cautious when mounting fasteners into concrete since these are effective, but not necessarily safe. In the process of installing them, I snapped several of them in half. With more concrete being drilled, the speed of the drill slowed much more. Eventually, you'll bend and shear them off if you don't stop. The back off has to be done several times and they have to be sent won't go all the way in and, after some attempts, I learned that it was better to let them go at their own pace rather than force them to go in all the way. In order to make them shorter, some of them had to be cut by about 3/8 inch. There's good news for hacksaw enthusiasts these things can be cut pretty simply. As for the short caps, I do not like them either. I would like it to be another 1/4 inch longer. If I had done that, the fastener would have been more exposed, and installation would have been more straightforward. In the end, I found that some fasteners had been loose and were able to be shaken around a bit when finished. guess that the constant backpedaling and rescinding of promises contributes to They needed to be sent in because some of the concrete on them had been stripped. After installing the treads again, I wrapped a short piece of duct tape around them and they were tightened easily. I am sure none of this would be problematic if you drilled the screws.

This is a very good quality
4/5

The threads appear to be well machined and these seem relatively solid. The box I received indicates it is made of 302 SS and not 304SS at all. From my research, I'm not sure if that matters, but I'm confident that these will function well to hold my hurricane panels in place. The reason for the lower star rating is that I forgot to blow out dust in the drilled holes, and that my cordless Makita 18V put a slight bend in the shaft when it hit the This bit is solid and is effective in driving screws into the screws.

I was able to install it into wood framed windows but was unable to use the included tool
4/5

There was a tool for 3 out of 25 screws in the kit. What a ridiculous idea! Thanks to reviews I read, I discovered it didn't fit and caused failures, so I used a deep socket that fit much better and was the correct size. In order to fit the 3 that fit, I used the included socket since mine was a little bigger and the 3 that did not fit required the included tool. That they couldn't get the size right on these is insane, and their quality control is poor. As a whole, it was a good job. In addition, I did not use the included drill bit since it was designed for cement and I was drilling In the event that you correctly predicted The holes should be drilled and a socket that will fit the screws should be used. Throughout my academic career, I have never failed a class. Although they are a nice design, the price is a bit high and the engineering is not so good. It is still well worth giving four stars to these folks because they are among the best contractors when it comes to installing hurricane panels over wooden.

A drill bit provided for screw installation does not fit provided screws
3/5

In the first set of screw, only 1/3 of the screws fit the drill bit and will have to be filed down to fit. I ordered a second set and one screw did not have any threads for wing nuts. China has quality control, which is a price you must pay when you do business with them. In general, I only buy things from China when there are no other options, but I do appreciate how the tariff war is making purchases more affordable A competitive market in China A special emphasis should be placed on quality control in USA manufacturing. In addition, if you purchase these, be sure you allow time for installation, since processing these heads to fit the drivers is time-consuming and With a CAT 4 hurricane 24 at your back doorstep, this is not the best thing to do The next 48 hours will be here soon.

However, it does not work
3/5

The pros include So they can be left outside in the weather as they are made of stainless steel. It's made of sturdy materials. The cons are It wasn't always possible for the screw heads to fit into the I stripped about 10 of them as a result. There was a slight difference in size between the bit and the screw. The screws fit in some places but not in others. This indicates a lack of quality control.

It was a total There may be a problem with the composition of stainless steel
3/5

The money I was going to spend on my holiday was wasted. The items were not useful, in fact, I've been meaning to return the package to you for a while now. The proper size drill bit has been used and the block has been drilled Despite my efforts, I still managed to break the bits off of the first three anchors I installed. Following the same pattern as above, the anchors bent when going through the block again. The problem wasn't caused by the drill's speed, or torque, because it had been installed with an older 12volt cordless drill. The stainless anchors were no longer used, so I went shopping and found other brands of very similar design that worked just as well.

You won't have any problems with those! Their quality is excellent, and they work great
5/5

In my case, I used a smaller drill bit than the one that came with the drill. A drill was used to drill holes then an impact drill was used to drive the holes in. There was no break. A second order of two boxes has been placed. I am confident that you will want the stainless steel. Those that are not properly maintained will rust and become unusable over time.
