These appear to be zinc-plated from the images, even though the listing says that the hooks are stainless steel. These actually look like stainless steel, aren't they?

I assume stainless steel is the material contained in the package marked SS. bolts are blue grey in color, like some other silicate stainless fasteners I have, and they are not the bright grey of the zinc carriage bolts I have. As a result, I conclude It was my pleasure to help.

What is the purpose of these? Can they be put on ?

A 1/4" x 20 thread is available here. As long as you have clearance, you can use them. They come in handy when I use Rust and corrosion do not appeal to me.

You get excellent value for your money

These are what I use with my vibratory rock tumbler and rotational rock tumblers 15#. I am tired of the cheap wing nuts breaking. These do not break like the cheap ones do.
