Will this work to repair copper tubing that has been cut off at the crimped end?

I'm not sure I understand your question, but I believe you'll find an answer in Wikipedia if you search for compression fitting. In my case, 1/4" copper tubing was threaded through the nut, the sleeve was slipped over the tubing, the tubing end was inserted into a humidifier valve, and the nut was tightened to secure the tube to the valve. I have a spare due to the inclusion of two nuts and sleeves. A spare is useful because I need to remove the line once a year to replace a filter in the valve.
