It was my expectation that Harbor Freight air grinders would be equipped with metric threads, but I was disappointed. China decided to go with 3/8-24 threads on one of its tools. As a result, I had a collection of useless metric adaptors. A little gem like this replaces that problem and allows larger disks (or are they disks? The tools) and accessories are provided at It is made from steel and is a good product.
Although the quality was excellent, the female 3/8" thread on this grinder (Makita n9514B) was not compatible with it, so I could not use it. For my grinder, I wanted to add a disc, so I was trying to change the connection from 5/8" to 5/8". I'll see what else I can do.
I did not want to throw away the old Black and Decker because it is well built. A new lease of life was given to the old piece.
According to the packaging, the adapter is a 5/8 11 to M10 1, but it came in a 5/8 11 to 3/8 24 packaging. I saw it on the adapter, and, as you may have guessed, it did not fit the 3/8"-24 shaft on the grinder. It was returned to me in two days, and I received a replacement. One star would have been enough, but I cannot do that. Although the replacement shippment was identical to the first one, there was no difference between them. It sounds like the manufacturer is having problems with how they are packaging these things, Weiler. The product looked to be of good quality, so I got a refund since I did not think getting a third replacement would improve the situation.
There are no negatives to be found.
The quality of the product is superb. Took off the backing pads from my old rotary polisher and I could use them with 5/8'' backing pads.
It does not match the description in the It was the same wrong thing both times. I thought it may have been packaged wrong the first time, but it wasn't.
I use this for my air grinder because it fits the 3/8" shaft perfectly. Blades and accessories that have a diameter of 5/8" can be used. I like how it was.
