I had the unfortunate experience of trying to remove these nuts. One out of five nuts got cross threaded when tightened with When I tried to take them off with a torch, they wouldn't budge until I heated them and snapped them It seems that the nut I received was not quite right. Despite the correct thread pitch and all the other dimensions the bolt thread bit right into the nuts when tightened. I assume something is off since the bolt thread bit into the nuts.

This is a really good book! Because these nuts have flanged bases, you won't need a flat washer on top, and they have serrations on the underside to prevent slipping. When carriage bolts are used, these are especially helpful because a nylock lock nut could cause the bolt to spin and would effectively make it impossible to remove from an aged frame.
