There are three thread checkers I own, and if I had to buy one again, I would I find this to be very economical and comparable to my mounted ones with the added benefit that it can be carried around. It is not stated which drilling bit size should be used. The reason for this is that there are four different sizes of bits Using calipers, you can measure the smallest diameter, which is bottom of thread to bottom of thread. This size is also referred to as the root size (also known as minor size), the thread size (aka major size), and the shank or shoulder size. In the case of minor measurements, this is the root In the thread industry the thread size is the outside diameter of the threads It is usually necessary to drill a little larger than this size to tap a hole if you are not tapping. There is a small likelihood the shank or shoulder near the head of the bolt will be larger than the thread diameter. In that case, you will need a drill bit with a bit size It is not possible to provide tap drill bit size because a drill bit size chart is usually included in your tap &amp die kit There are several die sets available.
An identification stamp is permanently attached to each thread checker. In addition, the red marks on the zinc-plated inch series markings are then painted with a white paint, while the black oxide markings are painted with red There is a thread major diameter and a thread pitch on the thread identification marking. Even if the filler paint wears out, each size will still be recognizable due to the depth of the stamp.
It appears that someone else answered your question regarding size.
Bolt thread identification is possible with this method. Both male and female threads are used in the thread size checkers.

The price is a bit high for what you get given that there are missing sizes and neither coarse nor fine metric is available, nor are all sizes numbered. I'm surprised Amazon doesn't carry a more complete set from China at a much lower price. The cable presentation would be better suited to hanging from a pegboard than storing in a toolbox. An option would be to have a set in a fitted If we could present the complete set in our presentations, it would be far more appealing. The product is mixed with metric, numbered, and non-numbered measurements. Following are the dimensions of coarse and fine threads in inches Using the

When I faced a problem ordering a nyloc nut for a small bolt, I decided it would be nice to have this at home. While I knew it was a metric, I did not know how big and how threatening it was. I discovered that there were two 5mm-thick mounting clips with this item when it arrived As opposed to having 4mm and 8 gauges, it has 8 gauges This is a 7 gauge gun. I opted to get in touch with the manufacturer instead of returning it to Amazon for a replacement. I sent them a picture of the error instead of returning it to Amazon right away. It would seem that the only way to fix quality control issues is to be aware of The next business day they contacted me and offered to send me a replacement thread checker, which I received Neither the product nor the customer service could have been better.
On the whole, I thought it was too expensive considering what it was. Despite that, they are useful and I will give them a try. The 1/4-inch thread wasn't visible to me, but I should have examined it. I went to use it for a sae thread bolt, but found the 1/4-inch thread wasn't there. There was something wrong with 28. The threads look distorted, as if they've been galled. There is no cross-threading or stripping, just a twisted or distorted strand. In the picture, I tried to show this as best as I could. You should check every thread if you buy this.
I think this is a great In this day and age where we have standard vs metric - and everything in between - this is very helpful. We were disappointed to discover that the product's markings were inconsistent. The contrast between some texts and others was quite marked, such that some letters were easy to read while others were very difficult. The size tools are hard to read after a while, which makes me begin to wonder if they will become I think the idea was great, but it didn't quite work out. It doesn't matter if you cannot read it, but you do It looks like it may be a good idea but I am sad because the brand is not strong enough. It's the steel cable that keeps everything in place that I'm in love with. I am so sad!.
I found it to be very incomplete for the price. Used it Not including some odd but common threads found in air and gas connections, plumbing and heating. I recommend that you add some couplers to the kit if you're a scattershot tech like me. Depending on whether you are dealing with brake lines, fuel lines, or air lines that connect SAE and metric, or British Pipe and NPT, you will need a different pair. Furthermore, if you are reaching in a tight spot, it will be impossible to test a thread until the wire rope is taken apart. The following year(s) have been updated There is a LOW Quality Metal in this material This is especially disappointing on the SAE side. I'm always frustrated by the size discrepancy. This checker set will be of no use if you are working with automotive, household plumbing, and air fittings since no sizes of these items are included.
My life is so much easier in the garage now that I'm organized.
The wire rope lanyard is effective in holding the pieces together, but it becomes a liability as well. When I want to use it, I grab the free end from it and hang it near my parts bins. There's an eerie sense of running away from me as the pieces slide down the wire. As soon as you grab the proper bit, it's easy enough to install an unknown screw in the checker's female threads. However, it is nearly impossible because you must spin the lanyard all the way around to get the checker's male threads into a fixed base. It is likely that I will eventually remove all of the bits from the lanyard.
I like the color coding (black finish is metric, chromed finish is SAE).
The set of thread checkers I have in my collection has proven invaluable to me while I perform mechanical repairs on my "fleet" of older cars. Although they work quite well on loose nuts and bolts, some reviewers noted it was difficult to remove the individual thread checkers from the steel wire with which they are attached. Likewise, another reviewer noted that it is difficult to remove them from the length of wire on which they are attached. The task of translating into another language can be incredibly difficult - Bolts already in place on a vehicle can be used with this product. In the unlikely event that it were possible to temporarily remove them from the retainer for use in difficult situations My rating would probably be five rather than just four if we were at the top of the list.
