With pressure treated lumber, especially foundation grade pressure treated lumber, they do not work so well. My experience has been that the wood foundations rarely sink when the boards are face-nailed, especially when the foundation is made of permanent wood. It calls for 3" nails or longer and more in pressure treated wood. I consulted the owner's manual following my problems, and it does state that 3" nails and longer should be avoided. It is fine to use untreated framing lumber if you are just using it for framing.
