I paid $10 for the item.
In either case, the Forstner or the twist drill will do the job
Okay, so far the M8 by 125 insert has worked just fine on some bottle stoppers I've turned on my Lathe and I used epoxy also. When I was using it, I used the 7/16 drill bit and it made it a little bit tight, but it still worked.
My bit was a 7/16 Brad Point

It is 3/8" (9. I think a 5mm) pilot hole was In order to be sure, I tapped the hole with a 3/8" lag bolt. The insert turned easily and had a light resistance During the way in and as we were approaching the seating area, the volume increased gradually. In order for the wood to bear down directly on the caster's mount plate, it is recommended to countersink or recess the hole. Finally, channel locks can be used to tighten the hole. The stem is the only part that resists lateral loads. Thread engagement begins after the allen key recess, so it is the only part that is able to resist lateral loads.
A 3/8" ratchet and a hex socket are required to mount the inserts into hard and soft woods. They are extremely robust. problems with the Allen drive wear out. I can now save on the price of the stemmed casters and not have to worry about the mounting area for flanged casters. Good product. I would prefer that the internal threads were closer to the surface, however that is understandable as the Allen drive is there as well. Product of high quality.
This should not be used for anything where you will need to tighten To remove the whole bolt from the wood, you will need to untighten it first. The product I ended up with is similar to the one I had and has screw holes around its Obviously, this product is designed for situations when you need to alter the distance that something sticks out, like when you need to level table legs.
Originally I thought the description was just mistranslated, but since the description says that they are made from zinc (aka pot metal) not only zinc plated, they must be true. Not really suitable for maple should probably be OK for pine when applied under low stress.
Didn't get to use them for this project, but I'd like to use them again.
had these inserts on hand for adding threaded post casters to a sewing table that I built for my wife. I drilled a hole in 3/4" oak plywood and then screwed in the inserts before adding the It was easy to do and worked without a hitch.
This is exactly how it is The only reason I knocked this down a star is that you have to have a 10mm bit in order to drill the right size hole, so unless you already have one you will need to purchase it to use this product, which I did have to do.
My belief is that they represent a tool, which is why I purchased The tool does not come with it. The whole thing really pissed me off.
