Questions & Answers

Can you tell me what the inner diameter of these clips is?

Its diameter (as best as I can determine) is 1/4 inch, which is the same as the rod of the shelving it is attached This is a very tight fit, however. In order to force the clip into the rod, I had to hit the shelving's rod with a mallet the last time I replaced some clips. When I have used pliers to fit the rod into the shelving clip, I used a pair of pliers to do so.

Is there an anchor and screw attached to these?

These are the ones I have They do have the screw and anchor, as the number 31 indicates.

I would like to know what the dimensions of these clips are. Is this the correct size for mine? It appears to be 1/2 by 11/4 inches. ?

There was no way to be sure, but the screw holes lined up with the holes in the original clips on my shelf, and the shelf was the same width.

The shelves on Closet Maid are unsuitable for the products
3/5

These clips were purchased to replace the old ones that broke. The products are identical to the ones sold in traditional retail, but none fit the shelves, even the ones sold in traditional retail. As a matter of fact, I challenged an associate at Lowe's to install the clip on the shelf, which he did, but with great difficulty and damaging the plastic coating on There were no replacement clips or fittings that fit the slightly larger front shelf wire in my closet, so I was unable to replace the clip that holds it to the center support, which matches a brand new shelf from Lowe's precisely in size and style. The seller is not at fault here, it is Closet Maid's fault. In addition to the shelf brackets and supports that I purchased for $50+, I had to purchase another shelf bracket to remount my shelf securely.

However, the anchors are too weak or too small
4/5

It works, but does not secure the bar very tightly. The technical aspects of these devices work, but the overall design is In the beginning, a lot of force is needed in order to push the shelf bar into the clips, but it pops right back out very When you use the wall anchors included, the amount of force needed to fit the bar into them will start tearing these super weak anchors out of The best thing you can do is mount them into studs whenever you can. You might want to buy some good anchors if a stud is not available.

The Closetmaid stuff helps keep it functional although I'm not fond of it
5/5

As part of my former home, I designed solid wood shelving, and my contractor built it for me, Following that, I was able to sell that house and purchase the house I absolutely love today. However, it is 25 years old Mostly wire Closetmaid shelving that collects small objects and marks anything on it with wire. It is 1-year old and full of wire shelving that I dislike because small objects fall through it or get tangled in By getting custom-made software, I was able to fix it Acrylic sheets were made to sit on top of shelves, but the brackets holding each shelf up snap every time you move it. Replacement clips that are easy to use and much more functional than either the original clips or these replacement You can use them instead of replacing all the shelving with custom shelves because they are easy to use and more efficient.

The shelf cannot easily be installed on older white wire shelving, but with a little force, it can be installed
5/5

You can smash it in easily if you smash it with a lot of Compared to the old ones, these new ones are a little bit longer. When the screw is put into the hole where the broken one came out, the shelf is just a shade lower than it was Maybe there is a difference of a mm or two, so it's not a dealbreaker, but why can't they make them the same size? It was easy to install the wire shelf into the hook, but it turned out to be a problem. Sadly, I was unable to attend. From an eyeball analysis, it looks like it should fit, but I can't measure for certain. Although the hook is not shaped like a U, it wraps around to a rather large diameter. When I pushed down HARD on the shelf itself (meaning I already had L brackets in place), I was able to hook it in place. It was not easy or easy to fit, and in the end, it did not work. I am not certain whether I stretched the hook entering it, but it held, and I did not break it. It's a good thing that the hole is too small for the shelf to easily lift up again because of the difficulty seating it in. The next 20 years should be great for this.

I really like how they work! There were a couple of old clips holding up the top shelf in my kitchen, causing it to drop down and fall atop another shelf, spilling some things
5/5

In the past twenty years they have aged quite a bit and had to be replaced. I like these because they did the job well. Old ones were nailed in with a plastic ring around the nail, so getting them out was a bit tricky. But the hole I needed for the new ones was the same size as the plastic hole on the old ones, so everything worked out just fine. It was unclear to me what had happened when I came out the morning after the old clips broke. A lot of the items from the top shelf were on the floor and I thought my cat had gotten adventurous and knocked them over. As the top shelf was largely supported by the lower shelf after the clips broke, it was not even immediately apparent that the shelf had come loose. Once I had a closer look at the problem, I could immediately see what was wrong. There were still the old clips on the shelf, but the rounded part at the bottom snapped, causing it to fall. I was able to repair the shelf using the new clips and it now looks like new.

It won't be possible to put clips on the My shelf was taken down so I could paint the closet, so I bought these
3/5

Due to the fact that I am able to slide one on to the end, I know the clips fit the shelf. Despite my best efforts, I still struggle to attach even a clip to the shelf There is no give in the hinges to allow them to open enough for them Previously I would have been able to complete the task in 15 minutes, but now I have to find a solution that fits. In addition, the clips on the shelf that I took down are the same as the ones on it originally.

I got my shelving done
5/5

As old clips in the 1990s deteriorated, these worked best. All the old clips had snapped and needed to be replaced.

A replacement that is exactly the same
5/5

Replaced a broken hook with these and they worked well. It was someone else who installed the shelving, and a clip broke after three years of heavy use. didn't have any replacements on hand, so I decided to purchase these and they worked just fine. There are a few spare ones, and the ones we originally had are exactly the same.
