I ordered the transistors and took a chance on replacing it after an hour or so of trying to read the number on the housing. Sure enough, it worked like a charm. I moved the fuses to the outside of the case and waited for him to reinstall it in his trailer and load test it; it bench tests fine, but my bench power supply is only 5 amps. It's a long way from the 60 amps it's supposed to handle.
This is excellent. I've used about eight in small circuits so far. Sound effects were created. I'm going to make a fuzz pedal out of reactive LEDs. I have no complaints because it is so good for the price.

Aside from the 2N2222, this is likely one of the most commonly used small signal transistors from the past. It's good to know they're still around for guitar amp and effects pedal tinkerers all over the world. Breadboarding and soldering by hand are much easier with the bent leads. I would strongly suggest it.
