In a Food Dehydrator that was around 5 years old, replace the 142°C thermal fuse. On the unit's heater board, I uncrimped the butt connectors and crimped them back in place. However, I soldered the crimps as well. You can solder these as long as you use double alligator clips for heat dissipation and ice cubes to cool the thermal fuse. This keeps it cool so you can solder with 60/40 solder, which melts at 190°C/374°F. If your dehydrator gets hotter than that, you've got bigger problems than solder melting. br>br>The first photo shows an old thermal fuse that blew. br>The second photo shows a new crimped and soldered thermal fuse. It is essential to use heat sinks.
These were purchased to replace a thermal fuse in a NESCO FD-100. Dehydrator with a capacity of 75 watts. I cut out the old one and soldered in the new one (with the help of an ice cube to keep the thermal fuse cool while soldering). This enabled the dehydrator to function properly.
Replaced a bad thermal fuse (continuous was open) for the Dehydrate product; it now works fine; do not solder, as heat will blow up the fuse.
It worked perfectly in a pressure cooker.
It did exactly what it was supposed to do.
