Is it possible to use sfp and sfp on the same cable, with each end being different, or do they have to be the same?

If they're the same type of transceiver, you might be able to connect, but I'm guessing you'd get CRC errors and lose a lot of packets.

As expected, it functions properly. BUT, because I only used it with a Trendnet media converter box, I can't comment on how well it performs with other devices (which can be a problem with these fiber SFP modules).

I was able to connect with our Netgear M4300 at 10G without any problems, but now I need something that can generate that much data.

For Meraki MS switches, this is a good solid transceiver

This model connects every time and appears to be reliable, but I haven't had much experience with it. It gets a lot hotter than the 1Gb version, but that's to be expected with a 10x data rate.
