Selected User Reviews For Ubiquiti U Fiber Multi-Mode SFP 10G - UF-MM-10G
There was no muss or fuss with these; I simply unpacked them, plugged them into my 48 port switch's 10G ports, connected the fiber patch cable, and everything was up and running as smoothly as a regular copper patch cable. That can't be argued with! Using this as a backbone connection from the switch to my server, which houses FreeNAS, CCTV, home automation, and other applications, it's not really needed and is way overkill, but I've had multiple streams at 1 Gbps full out with no blip in network performance.
This was purchased in conjunction with the fiber cable: In order for my smart home hub to be able to use a fiber connection. I haven't yet been able to connect the router to the switch using this cable, but I believe that is due to my lack of networking expertise. I'll update this review once I've gotten that set up, but I can see traffic on the router's monitoring tools, so I know I'm getting signal between the router and the switch with this plugged in. For some reason, I can't get it to be the internet delivery channel from the router to the switch. Anyway, the cable was the perfect length, and this adapter was compatible with both my ubiquiti router and my Ruckus switch. Once I figure out how to properly set up my network, I'm hoping to be able to use it.
As it should, it works flawlessly with UniFi switches. If you're connecting a SFP switch to another SFP switch, such as a UniFi 48port to a 24port switch, you can use a 10G module on the SFP switch and a 1G module on the SFP switch, but you'll need to disable Auto-Configuration. To get it working, negotiate and select 1G Full Duplex on the 10G switch. I'm not sure if this only applies to UniFi switches.
Not that genuine UI SFP modules wouldn't work, but these do exactly what they say, and the packaging, as always with Ubiquiti products, is fantastic, super nice and padded. With this, I was able to establish a 10G link between my UDMP and my 24 Port switch, which is working perfectly.
May 21, 2020 (revision): I got a replacement from Amazon, and it's got the right Ubiquiti logos and works great with my UDM Pro and my Asus Card, with speeds of 9. 87 gigabits per second over 10 meters of LC cable I'm going to change it to a five-star rating. The seller who sent the first shipment was most likely a return or scammer. There was no Ubiquiti logo on it, and it didn't come with any protective covers. I have no idea what I got. br>br> It wasn't ubiquiti modules, and one of them was a 1g SFP (non-ubiquiti) connector. I'm unable to use it because of the model. They don't work with my ubiquiti equipment or my ASUS SFP card, so I'll be returning them.
What else is there to ask for? These are less than a tenth of the cost of brocade. Ubiquity switches make use of them. There are no issues to report. They're simple to set up, and the switch recognizes them immediately. (Feel the acceleration!) 10G.
That other vendor's product is compatible. They're not supported, but they work and cost a tenth of the price.
These were purchased for my Unifi UDM Pro and Unifi 48 port switch, and they have performed admirably in terms of ease of setup and fiber wire connection. Ubiquiti creates incredible products in general.
