When a magnet was applied, I anticipated that these would latch in the modified state, but then they reverted to their original state when the magnet was removed so they couldn't be used. They function the way they seem to be designed, but that's not what I'm looking for.
I created a system for lighting trucks under the hood which is electrically contactless. A total of two Reed switches did not work out of ten. During testing for continuity, one Reed switch had been opened in both poles, and the other had been stuck in a closed position and could not magnetically switch sides.
It was disappointing that I had two defective products out of ten. In this case, both NO and NC leads were open and the switches never switched from one state to another. Eight of them do what they're supposed to do. Handle every small glass tube with care. They are fragile, but any small glass tube is fragile.
It was a job well done.
