It's a momentary/dead man switch. It clicks, but it doesn't stay on. When you let go of your foot, it will automatically return to the off position.

The switch housing is made of a solid material that I like, but it didn't stay in place as well as I had hoped. I fixed it by disassembling the switch, removing the screws that held the rubber pads in place, and replacing them with longer screws to secure the base to a piece of wood. Now I can keep the switch in place by resting my foot on the wood. A thicker gauge wire would have been preferable as well - The 18 gauge appears to be a little light, but I won't be using it for anything heavy-duty, so it should be fine.
This is extremely convenient! When you grind, it's as if you have an extra set of hands. It appears to be well-made and durable, but it's too soon to tell. It would be better if the cable were a little longer.
This is what I use to switch a shop vacuum without having to use my hands. It really works.
The foot switch was good, but I needed a NC contact, and this was a NO. I replaced the switch, and everything was fine after that.
The ground prong fell out fairly quickly and cannot be repaired. The rubber pad that was on top of it came off in a flash as well. Aside from that, it accomplishes its objectives.
This is an excellent change. Everything goes according to plan.
