It does not say "made in China," but it does have a CE mark for Europe and an Underwriters RU/UR mark for the United States.
When the cover is screwed on, it appears that ridges molded into the case clamp the wire. Otherwise, you could use a pair of nylon zips to keep the wire from slipping out of the switch's body.

Unfortunately, it did, and I had to look up how to change it on my Arc lamp on YouTube, where I found some excellent instructions. I bought two of them, so I hope this helps.

Then it's a piece of cake. This switch is for those who know the difference between the two wires that lead to a polarized plug or are willing to learn. The printed lead, which connects to the hot or energized prong, is the most likely to break. It's a tight fit, but my hands are clumsy, so you should be able to pull it off. Strip the wires, twist them, and place them in the switch's'stab-in' location. terminals that have been locked If you've used other switches before, don't cut a section of the hot lead wire like some other switches require.
light control has been turned off The switch worked as a stand-in for a floor lamp from IKEA. There are no instructions included in the package, which may cause issues for some users. To free the two wires that were tangled in the IKEA switch, I had to destroy it. It was simple to push the wires into the new switch once it had been removed. It's not difficult to destroy the original switch, and it only takes about 15 minutes, a Phillips screwdriver, a pair of diagonal cutters, and a Phillips screwdriver.
The installation was fairly simple, with the exception of being careful not to over-insert the wires into the switch. If they protrude, you'll need an eyeglasses screwdriver (or something similar) to push on the internal wire release on each side; otherwise, it's very simple to put together and works fine; the image gallery on the listing is very helpful if you need it.
br>br>I tried to buy a cheap extension cord with a foot pedal switch and use it for replacement parts, but the wires were soldered to the switch, and trying to de-solder them proved impossible. Soldering them and connecting the wires from my lamp was far too time consuming, let alone getting the casing back on. br>br>Like the switch I was replacing, this one has spring-loaded receptacles for the wire ends that keep them in place. Soldering is a lot more difficult than this. The transparent casing is also very useful for keeping the wires routed correctly while screwing it back together. The availability of the ideal part can make the difference between a successful and unsuccessful project.
This floor switch was simple to install on existing lamp wire, but it didn't work the first time we tried it. Because of the plastic housing, a small spring inside does not stay in place.
This was purchased to replace the one on my Crate and Barrel floor light that appeared to be the same. br>br>Because they were nearly identical, I simply removed the cord and replaced it in the same manner, and presto, it worked! br>br>Also, this one appears to be the same, but the spring is much stronger, so I expect it to last a long time! Fantastic product! br>br>.
It performs admirably, but it is extremely inexpensive. This simple foot switch was used to replace a dimmer on a floor lamp that wasn't working properly. In retrospect, I should have spent a little more money on a higher-quality switch - It's a beautiful lamp. However, it was easy to set up and it functions satisfactorily. It's unclear how "durable" it'll be. The only way to find out is to wait.
My deskside pole lamp's step switch finally failed after almost a decade of service. I never imagined I'd be able to find an exact match on Amazon. This, however, is the final chapter. To put it together, you'll need a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts, but most people will find it simple. Highly recommended due to its durability and solid on/off switch feel.
