A drill bit was purchased to hole-tap 5/16" steel with 36 holes. I bought 2 just in case one wore out, but I only used the first one, and it is still working just fine. The material is strong and well made.

Ten minutes were all that it lasted

With this tap, I was able to clean out paint overspray from eight of my auto body panel nuts. I was able to get the tap started in the threads, but the tip broke off in the third However, since I did not have to cut new threads, I was able to clean out the other 5 nuts as well.
