The purpose of buying this is to turn it into a grinder using steel plates and square tubes. The set from Harbor Freight didn't seem to be up to the task, especially since it had to tap a number of holes. I was able to tap dozens of holes in 1/4 and 3/8" steel with this little tool. The tap was excellent throughout the project, even when I lost a couple of drill bits en route.
A handwheel made of aluminum cast is tapped and bore to operate shaved ice machines. A fluted tap is what I used to use, but this was outstanding! I faced almost no resistance when tapping on the lathe during the cutting process. It didn't matter which way I turned it, I was able to do it in no time.
This cast iron was so smooth to cut threads in that I was able to cut into it without a scratch. Also, I had to fix a few threads that had been warped by welding heat, and this tap fastened them back together without a problem.
Although it appears to be of good quality, I will still have to return it since it does not meet NPT guidelines.
The construction is of high quality. A friend of mine was able to easily work with threads in an.
In contrast, if spiral flutes are not used, you will be wasting time. Despite their price, these are worth every penny. There's no need to force the chips back down when the entire thread is ejected in one pass?.
I am very satisfied with this product, at a very reasonable price. It already paid for itself on the first use tapping stainless steel.
