If you want the highest quality hand tap, Dormer is your best option. A review of the Dormer E001 Powdered Metal M16x2 is presented here. A spiral point tap also goes by the name of a gun point tap, because the point of the tap has an angled grind to help eject chips forward. This type of tap is also called a "spiral point" because it "shoots" chips forward. Almost all gun point taps work well in blind holes or holes that do not have a flush surface, but it can clog them up worse if you use them in blind holes or holes with no flush surface. Be sure to select the right tap for the job at hand.
