A 6pc kit of M3 and M4 components was ordered A M3 tap was not included in my kit, which arrived with five pieces. Especially annoying because I am still awaiting approval for my return an hour after I started the The amount is quite small, however I would like to know if I can be credited before ordering another set. No idea if it is Amazon or the vendor who has been holding up the return, but I sort of expected an instant credit because the product or product description isn't accurate.
It was nice to have a little set of taps that worked well. Although they did not come oiled, they were not rusty. I just tapped on the softer side of thin cast metal so I cannot judge how they perform on harder metals, but they seem to have come.
My only use of the M4 so far is to ream out existing, smaller holes in an old stereo receiver chassis,. My hand tool worked fine, I didn't use a drill, and I used a hand tool. Only about 1/4 inch of thread was visible (through-threading.
This is a very bad quality product. It is made from soft metal and it brakes easily.
It was worth the money I spent. This is not necessarily shop quality but is useful for making your own turnbuckles since it is suitable for softer materials, such as plastic or aluminum.
This job was also difficult to accomplish with my cheap tap set, which could only cut three threads deep. While mounting the DRO, which requires drilling and taping threads into the lathe (cast iron), the newly mounted DRO picked up where the old one left off, and I was able to cut the thread without difficulty.
It's literally impossible to find left hand taps at a reasonable price. This is a great find for me. Brass and steel have both been treated with them. They have cut very well so far. The brass was cut dry and the steel with oil sulfated for pipe cutting.
