I needed 3/8" and 1/2" diameter bits, but could only find the 1/2" on the site; I had to go to my local brick and mortar to get the 3/8". The 3/8" charm was the standard Whiteside offering. Even though I tried my hardest to be quick, the 1/2" straight out of the box burned a little when I was making my fluted pilasters at the start and especially the stop. This was not an issue with the 3/8". Why is this? br>br>I'm not sure. I'd buy it again because the bit appeared to be very sharp and the length of the cut was adequate.
I bought this bit to use on my CNC router to make hardwood trays. This bit, like all other Whiteside bits I've purchased in the past, performed flawlessly; it's cut approximately 37 hardwood trays and is still as sharp as when it was new. On a CNC router, I highly recommend this bit for tray, bowl, or juice grove work.
I just received this bit today, and it is of the highest quality, as are all Whiteside bits. The reason for the four-star rating is that the bit was misrepresented by using a photo of a 1/2" shank bit when the one that was sent was only 1/4". Although Whiteside lists a 1404 bit as having a 1/4" shank, this was not mentioned in the Amazon description. I don't believe I should have to go to the Whiteside website every time I place an Amazon order. This isn't the first time I've had this problem when ordering router bits.
Made in the United States, this knife is razor sharp and cuts cleanly. Although more expensive than Chinese versions, it is worthwhile to pay a little more to support American jobs and get the best bits for your wood projects. bit of high quality The parts on the whiteside are simply the best.
This is my favorite part. Making juice grooves on cutting boards is a breeze with this tool. With no tears or burning, the cuts are precise and clean.
incisive machined to perfection I expect this bit to last a long time because Whiteside produces high-quality router bits.
The smooth cut is appealing to me.
