I cut 1/8" and 1/4" thick 6061 aluminum alloy bars with these end mills. I was able to get at least 5 hours of cutting at 200% the cutting rate recommended by Inventables out of each bit at 200% the cutting rate recommended by Inventables out of each% Bits breaking on the kicker is the only failure mode I've encountered. Large pieces are ejected or ejected as they are freed from the bar material. With such a small-scale operation, this is to be expected. It has no bearing on my opinion of end mills of various diameters. Based on the wear I observed, I would estimate the maximum useful cutting time for aluminum to be around 10 hours per bit. (They were also effective with plywood and ABS. ) ) I'm very pleased with the price and quality of these bits! My Expectations Were Exceeded

I just used one of these beauties on my cnc router for a 3d carve in poplar, and it turned out to be a phenomenal value carbide. I was blown away by how well these softwoods cut, with very little fuzziness and almost no pullout. I anticipate that these will last a long time, but if I run out, I will not hesitate to reorder.

On aluminum, it's fine, but on acrylic, it's fantastic! I set these up to do aluminum because I don't like the accidental plunge fusion that happens from time to time, but I was able to cut Corian at 30 ipm with almost full slot cutting at only 2200 RPM
