Cuts through the ball's 1/2" diameter

That appears to be sufficient. I used it to make a groove for soft jaws to clamp round stock, but even the oversize stock is sloppy! On the ball end, this thing is chopping way too big. There's something wrong with the grind. br>br>It'll do the job if you need to round out an inside corner; if you need a 1/2" dia round bottom groove to hold anything near a half inch dia, forget it!.
