I'm curious about the shaft's diameter. I'm referring to the back-end of things. the stebbed/pointed end, not the other way around. Is 1/2" the correct measurement?

Is this the 1/2" stebcenter designed for use in the 'tailstock'? Sorry, but I don't believe the product images here are accurate. tia?

It is, after all, the tailstock's revolving center. The 1/2" headstock is represented by the RS H9082.

What kind of stock would you use this 1/2"center instead of the 7/8" center for? I noticed that there is a 1-star rating. Is there a 1/4" version of the center, too?

It's versatile enough to be used for almost any purpose. This is my go-to live center when I'm turning something that will be close to the tailstock. This is the one I use the most, and I have eight or ten of them. This is a fantastic option.

Is it possible to get rid of the center point?

That's what I think. I can get the knockout pin from my other live centers all the way to the bottom of the pin, which I believe it does. Sorry, but I'm not going to knock it out just to be sure.

It's great, and I use it all the time. I only wish I had ordered the larger one, but this one serves me well, and I plan to purchase the 1 1/4" version for some of the larger turnings.
