Pros: br>It's a good fit for my wood lathe. It's calm and pleasant. br> Soft metal (aluminum?) is used for the retaining ring around the tip. This may appear to be a negative, but it saved the center and a router bit from serious damage in my case. For cutting flats on spindles, I use a router sled mounted on my lathe. The supporting frame has adjustable stops to keep the router bit from contacting the lathe parts at either end of the sled travel, but I forgot to adjust the stop when I installed a shorter spindle one time. When the router bit reached the center, it cut a neat notch in the soft part without causing any serious damage. When I stopped the machine (scolding myself for being so stupid), I expected both the router bit and the center to be completely destroyed.
The center is particularly well-made. It is a good deal. Has been operating at a high level of efficiency. There were no problems or complaints. br>.
It's undeniably an M3, and it's a good fit. I haven't turned anything with it yet, but it's heavy and appears to be well-made; I'll try to update this review once I've had a chance to use it.
This live center has a good track record. It ought to be able to withstand my light lathe work. Given how worn out my 60-year-old lathe is, it runs true enough.
It appears to be accurate, so for the price, it's a good buy.
It appears to be in good condition and performs as expected. Because it isn't a 500, it only gets a 4 star. The live center is at 00. br>My lathe has a maximum speed of 1200 ripums, so it should work fine on my home shop machine for a long time.
For my project, this was exactly what I needed.
