I have an older Craftsman lathe with an For this reason, I was looking for a way to use MT2 tailstocks. This seemed to be the perfect solution. As a result, the male taper on my MT2 tailstock barely reaches the key slot in order to push it out as the internal MT2 taper seems to be a bit long. Even so, the problem wasn't too serious, since I dropped a bolt into the hole in the male taper which then protruded far enough into the slot in the female taper for the tapered key to engage and remove the male taper. After I have had a chance to use it properly, I will add an update.
This extension allows me to better clear the bigger tool rest on my ShopSmith by adjusting the distance between the tailstock and headstock.
