M is the initial letter of the alphabet. Rainbird still supports older controllers with accessories, which was a pleasant surprise. When the need for more watering zones arose, the expansion module's availability allowed two modules to be inserted into existing slots. Rainbird Tech Support was easy to reach to confirm that it was the correct module and that it could be installed "on the fly"- There was no need to unplug the controller, but to install it, I temporarily turned the dial to the off position. Modules are inserted into expansion slots to the right of the last existing module, and the black lever is turned to lock it in place. The LCD screen should say "OFF" when you move the controller dial to the position numbers of the newly installed zones, indicating that the new module has been recognized. If not, replace the module and lock it in place, or unplug the transformer for 10 seconds before plugging it back in. I now have six additional zones and was able to keep the original controller by turning the dial back to previously unrecognized positions, which will appear on screen and ready to input a start time.
This Rainbird Controller expansion module was extremely easy to install (just plug it in) and allowed me to increase the number of zones controlled by the controller. It arrived even before I received the Controller, which I had ordered at the same time.
It worked perfectly for me in resolving the No Mod 1 error message. Simply remove the old module from the sprinkler controller, disconnect the wires, connect the wires to the new module, and install the new module. All zones were tested and found to be functional.
When one of the sprinkler circuits failed, it was easy to figure out which one. I found the exact repair module on Amazon, and it was very simple to install (5 minutes). This is an excellent purchase.
On YouTube, there is a video. It is simple to set up. I took a chance and they turned out to be successful.
It solved my problems quickly and easily, but it is expensive.
It's simple to install; just make sure the zone wires that were connected to the old one are reconnected and tightened.
The sprinkler system has been restored to its original state.
