Yes, I believe this is adequate for that purpose. And I noticed on the website that the 4" x 40 yard size is $2 cheaper than the 3" x 40 yard size for some strange reason. I'd take the 4 in a heartbeat.

You can spend an extra $1 on Gaffer Power Professional Premium Grade Gaffer Tape, which is advertised as being made in the United States. TheTape Plus Gaffer tape performs admirably, but I would have paid the extra $1 for the American-made tape. It's my fault for not conducting thorough research!
That is, indeed, an interesting question. Personally, I don't believe so, because that tape recently became loose after being exposed to water. On both dry and wet "wood" surfaces, I've had better luck using Gorilla tape. However, I recommend that you contact a local boat shop to find out which tape is best for your needs.
