Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use?

Yes, it is effective. I use it to tape power and audio cords (not together) to the stage floor so that the musicians don't trip over them and, more importantly, the cords don't unplug. The cords are held in place by the tape, which allows people to move around freely. The tape easily comes out of the cords at the end of the performance, leaving no sticky residue.

Could this tape be used to cover the backs of blackout curtains to keep light out of rips and holes?

The tape looks and feels like woven medical tape. Fabric, I believe, would be a good fit. It could prevent light from passing through. Gaff tape in black might be a better option.

What will happen if it gets hot? 38 degrees Fahrenheit over a heated cable, to be precise. ?

In terms of heat, I believe it is acceptable, but this is dependent on the situation. When it comes to wiring, electric tape seems to be a better option. A refrigerator's temperature is about 38°F. I've actually used this tape to repair a broken refrigerator door rail. It's been stable for more than a year.

First impressions from a first-time gaffer tape user
5/5

To begin, let's look at the basics. This is a BEAST of a roll. If you're wondering why the rolls are only 55 yards long, it's because any longer/heavier would be unwieldy. The roll is exactly the diameter of a coffee can, as you can see in my photos. At my current rate of use, I expect this thing to last me 20 years. My only other first impressions are that a) it's a lot stickier than I expected (which is good) and b) it does leave a tiny string of fabric behind when you tear off a piece, as shown in the last photo. Having said that, I'm confident that creating a "clean tear" is simply a matter of technique, which will come with practice. br>br>Now I'm just going to repost an updated version of what I wrote on YouTube, because I'm sure it'll be useful to many of you: "If anyone wants to know what the "absolute best" gaffer tape is, it's Shurtape P-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 691, with a price ranging from $60 to $100 depending on the width. The cost per roll is $100. A $1,000 minimum order is required from any retailer. $2,000. Now that you know that, you can stop wasting your time looking for the "best gaffer tape" because you simply cannot afford it. Having said that, if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself This research took up MY entire day, and the following are the results: P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P 691 = 12. (80oz/70lb)br>25 mil (high tack, high tensile)br>P- 672 = 12 mil (high tensile, medium tack) (77oz/70lb)br>P- 665W = 11 mil (high tack, low tensile (80oz/50lb)br>Pro Gaff = 11 mil (low tack, low tensile) (75oz/50lb)br>Gaffer Power = 11 mil (low tack, low tensile) (75oz/50lb)br>P-Gaffer Power = 11 mil (low tack, low tensile) (75 628 = 10. 75 mil (low tack, low tensile) (75oz/50lbbr>br>As you can see, the 665W has the best adhesion of all the gaffer tapes. The only difference between the 665W and the 691 "nuclear grade" is that the latter has a higher tensile strength. Both have a temperature rating of 180 degrees Fahrenheit. In Los Angeles a few years ago, I conducted an experiment in which I monitored the interior/cabin temperature in my car for a week during the summer, and it peaked at 158°F! If you leave a tape in a hot car, bus, or storage locker all day, it will either come unstuck or turn to goo. br>br>To sum it up:
1. The top tier is 691, which costs $60br>2. The 665W is a second-tier model that costs $30br>3. The third tier is Pro Gaff and Gaffer Power, which cost $15br>4. Anything less expensive is most likely **** tier. br>br>By the way - All of the statistics and figures I used were taken directly from shurtape. com. On Amazon, you'll notice that all of the numbers are different. You can go to shurtape if you want to. com and look at the individual datasheets to make sure my calculations are correct. br>br>P. I read on the internet that Pro Gaff's "Professional" is the same as P-Gaff's "Professional. " 672 It's difficult to keep up with all the corporate mergers and acquisitions, but I believe Shurtape owns everything Pro Gaff and Permacell. Gaffer Power is the only non-affiliated anomaly.

Great fortitude! My children sleep in completely dark rooms, which is fine at home but can be a problem if we don't want to be up at the crack of dawn elsewhere
5/5

This was purchased to use as a window covering at AirBnB. B&Bs and hotels that don't always have good window coverings. This held firmly onto blankets we used to cover windows from excessive sunlight during a week stay at a beach house, and it worked wonders. There was no need to reattach it, and it didn't leave any residue on the fabric or the wall. There was no damage or removal of paint. br>br>To avoid any damage, I folded it flat against the wall and pulled slowly at a 45-degree angle. The angle is 60 degrees to the doubled-up-on-it-self. over the cliff If pulled perpendicular to the wall, it's strong enough to pull paint off the wall if pulled too hard.

Muffling drum heads is a breeze with this accessory
5/5

For all your drum head needs, get a roll of black and white. It really helps to cut down on the crazy sustain I get on my rack and floor toms. Moongels or drum dots don't stay in place as well as this. A small patch on the lip of my china cymbal also reduced sympathetic resonance when I hit the floor toms, as well as shortening the cymbal's sustain, which was exactly what the doctor ordered for some of the busy music I play. br>br>Excellent tape, especially the black stuff. Remo Emperor Suede heads are completely invisible. It also allows for easy experimentation because it can be peeled off without causing damage to the head. Because the glue remains tacky, you can play around with it before applying the final layer with a new piece of tape. br>br>Don't be hesitant to get the best for your drums; you already know you spend way too much on other things, so get this high-quality tape and don't look back for a long time because the roll will last a long time!.

Even in high humidity, it sticks well! This gaffer tape is of excellent quality and adheres well to most surfaces
5/5

It held up well when I used it to tape a blackout curtain over a window recently. Because it's hot outside (summer in Chicago), and I've tried and failed with other brands of gaffer tape in the past, I recommend this product, and please mark if you found my review helpful. Thank you a lot!.

When cost isn't an issue and reliability is paramount, this tape is used
5/5

This is the industry standard brand, which can be found on every New York City film set. I'm a price shopper in general, and while this tape is twice the price of Amazon's best seller, it's well worth it to me. When we weren't allowed to use C-prints, I taped heavy paper seamless backdrops to the wall. It stayed put for the duration of the shoot. I've used it to tailor and repair costumes, as well as to secure heavy rails and rigs to bicycles and in places where no other tape could possibly succeed. I never leave the house without it when I go to work.

Gaff tape is still my favorite
5/5

I've been using Shurtape for about 20 years and have tried a variety of other gaff tape brands in the meantime, but I always come back to Shurtape. I only used the letter P. For a weekend event, I put the Shurtape 665 and another brand side by side, and I find that I prefer the Shurtape for my gear's cables once again. The other brand (which is more expensive per foot) is now only used for extension cords and other tough jobs.

Very good quality
5/5

The thickness of the material The adhesion is exactly what I was looking for (in terms of automotive wiring). You can read about all of the different types of tape on the manufacturer's website, but this one has the best combination of qualities.

This is a slimmer version of the original
4/5

I was looking for something thicker, but I'm sure I'll find a use for this. This is an excellent tape. If you search for "permacell p-" you'll find the thicker stuff. 672" and, at the time of this review, costs around $35. Both are useful, but I run out of the thicker stuff first. br>br>EDIT: I ran out of the thicker stuff first. br>br> "Permacell p-" is a term used to describe a type of permanent cell. I mentioned that the 672" I mentioned is still thinner than the Shurtape I prefer. This p- is a little thicker than this one. However, it is only by a small margin. Is it possible that the thick stuff is no longer available?.
