Questions & Answers

The use of gaffer's tape vs. the use of masking tape Is that duct tape you're talking about?

For stage and production work, Gaffers tape has a superior adhesive. Unless it's been left on for several days, it comes off cleanly with no residue. When used to secure cables, it does not degrade the jacket as duct tape does.

Hello, could you please tell me where this tape was made? thanks?

According to an email from Dan Northrop, ISC Racers Tape customer support, dated February 8, 2016, "the good ole USA."

Is this a gray or a black color? Is it just me, or does the photo of the product appear to be gray? Thanks! ?

Even though it's a dull black, it's still black.

Will it fit on a 3" diameter roller and how thick is the tape on the roll if I use it with a tape roller?

No, it won't fit on a 3-inch roller because it's between 1 and 1 1/2 inches wide.

It's all good
5/5

There are different kinds of gaffer's tape. This is a fantastic tape! br>br>Previously, I would have assumed that any tape that looked similar to this would suffice. However, this does not appear to be the case in every situation. After failing to stick to everything I've tried to use it on, I'm throwing away a roll of a lookalike product. It would stay on for a few hours or even a day before giving up and falling off. br>br>This stuff stays put and holds firmly for weeks at a time, and it leaves no residue when you remove it. br>br>I'm back to stock up on the best of the best.

GAFFER'S TAPE IS AMAZING! I didn't have to purchase a new door because of your help! This is a fantastic tape
5/5

It actually saved me from having to replace my mother's backyard door, which would have cost me several hundred dollars. br>I purchased this tape in June 2014 and first used it in August of that year. My mother's back door completely fell off its hinges in 2014. This door isn't that old, probably around 12 years old, but it's made of flimsy wood. The original door was thick and heavy, but it needed to be replaced after decades of harsh snowy Winters and rainy Spring seasons. The old, sturdy door was replaced with a low-cost door installed for free by the city as part of a senior citizen assistance program. Instead of replacing the worn-out door pane and hinge, they attached a long, thin strip of wood (that swings out from the door jam) to the pane, drilled holes in it, and attached it to the new door, which was actually made of cork sandwiched between thin wood, using 1/2" nails. Because the nails are so short, they only drive about 1/4" into the door, the door has come completely off the hinge a few times before, unbeknownst to me until this time. My mother had always been able to get someone to re-open the door. br>br>Well, this past winter on the east coast was the longest and harshest in decades, resulting in significant damage to many homes. And, yes, you guessed it, the entire door fell completely off the hinge again in late August. I went to close the door after the electric man had left to replace the meter in the back yard, and it literally fell off the hinge; I had to put in a lot of effort to catch it and keep it from falling to the ground. We couldn't get the cork that the nails go into back up with nails because it was so damaged. br>br>It was 90 degrees outside, and after two hours of sweating profusely and me grumbling under my breath, I had to accept the fact that this door would not go back up, at least not in the way it was designed to. My daughter stood pitifully looking at me, unsure of what I (her mother) would do now that she and I were alone in the house. So we reinstalled the door on the top cemented step and simply laid it across the opening where the door should have been before returning inside the house. It was around 5 p. m. on a Friday afternoon, an inconvenient time for a door to come off its hinges and need to be replaced. "Mom, what are you going to do?" my daughter asked. , we can't just leave the back door open like that"br>I've always been pretty good at fixing things and improvising, but this was one situation I wasn't so sure I could fix, and the look on my daughter's face didn't give me much hope either. The door was inexpensive, but it was still heavy, and she and I were straining our backs lifting it over and over again in an attempt to get it back up. We have a shed kitchen door with two locks, so if the worst had happened, it would have only had to keep us safe for one night. That meant I'd be dozing off like a cat- eye jack was one of the first things that came to mind for me. br>br>So I told her, "I'm not sure, but I'll figure something out. " I'm just too tired to think right now. "br>br>So I went upstairs and changed out of my sweaty shirt, thinking to myself, "You can't leave that door open like that. " " I'm sure there's something you can do to get it up and running again. " And just as I was about to give up and pay someone to buy and install a new door the next day, it occurred to me that I had one more chance at bat, and with that realization, I charged back down stairs to my daughter's living room, screaming, "I got it!" I got it! I have a solution for reopening the door. "Then I told her about this gaffer's tape I bought a few months ago but hadn't used yet. " I told her that I'd read on Amazon that it was strong and durable, so it must work. br>br>Without waiting for her to respond, I dashed back up the stairs and re-dressed in my blouse. I then ran back downstairs, grabbing the gaffer's tape from my bedroom. I burst out laughing at my daughter's expression, as if she was thinking to herself, "what the hell are you going to do with a roll of tape?" "br>Once I began to laugh, she began to laugh as well. Then she simply stated, "mom. " "I know," I replied. I Know. We did, however, get another at-bat opportunity. It's all over now. It's either this or nothing. "br>br>With gaffer's tape and 30 minutes, we had that door up and running again. br>br>Remember that thin strip of wood that swung out from the windowpane I mentioned? That's how we went about it. We propped the door up on the top step with bricks as best we could, and with me on the inside and my daughter on the outside, I passed long strips of tape between the door jam for her to reach, and we both taped our sides of the door, taping the long thin piece of wood that was attached to the pane to the door jam. We began by securing the door in the center, then alternated working the top and bottom of the roll, using only about a third of it. br>br>Three weeks later, the door is still holding up better than it was with the nails in it, and it opens and closes like new. My daughter came into my room to see what I was doing as I finished this review. I told her I was going to write a review about how we used Gaffer's tape to reinstall the door. She simply flashed a proud smile. (Believe me, she's not the type to do household chores. )br>br>SAVED BY GAFFER'S TAPE. It will always have a special place in my heart.

Excellent medical/orthotic tape, with a beat-up appearance
3/5

up roll. It's not a piece of Gaffer's tape. If you're looking for this type of tape, you're probably looking for something special. Me too. I keep mine in a tin almost all of the time. Allstar Performance had sent me a pretty messed-up roll. It was well packaged, with no loose items inside and no damage to the box, indicating that it had been bounced around before shipping. It's fine, and it'll do for now, though I'll have to cut out the parts that aren't-useful. sticky- I'll just have to be more careful to ensure it doesn't fold into itself or rip (or not), as a dented up roll can. I'm not sure, but you'd think that for the price of a good product, they'd treat it as such. br>br>It's a lot more flexible than my black gaffer's tape that I bought somewhere else, and it gets a lot gummier over time. It's not something I'd keep around for a long time. term, or even a few weeks' worth of time. The glue becomes extremely pliable. br>br>I'm not angry; I'm just disappointed that I'll have to make due. It's not worth the trouble of returning it; I'm going to put it to good use.

It's difficult to fall in love with a $20 roll of gaffer's tape, but when you need something that you know will work, you have no choice
5/5

This tape is well worth the money because it always works. Always. br>br>My only gripe is that the roll I received this time was crammed into a box with a bunch of other things and was severely kinked, about 1/4 of the way through. If you're as picky as I am, you'll appreciate really nice, flat lines and clean seams. After all, it's not always about form over function. Anyway, it's a minor quibble, but something to keep in mind when packing these.

Gaffer's tape is fantastic
5/5

Gaffer's tape is fantastic. Get a roll of gaffer's tape if you've never used it before. It's pricey (as gaffers tape usually is), but it's a cloth-based tape that doesn't leave any residue. type tape, which adheres to surfaces for long periods of time and does not degrade unless subjected to extreme conditions. So far, I've purchased three rolls of Allstar and am extremely pleased. br>br>Note: If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "creative This item is labeled as an automotive item, which I'm sure it will be useful for. In the theatre where I worked for 5 years, we used this type of tape (not this brand), and it's great for just about anything. We used it for a variety of things, including taping down cables, marking (we used different colors for different mics and standing locations for actors/actresses), repairing things, and grip tape (it's not quite as good as actual grip tape, but it works better than the smooth surfaces). Personally, I use it as a mouse surface on slick plastic tables, as well as for repairing various items, taping down cables, and so on.
