The adhesive in most ductwork has a mild scent because it is not installed in a living space where odor is not of concern.
The sealant worked perfectly for me in my RV where I used it to seal the duct work for air conditioning. As soon as it touches something, it sticks in a big way. You are able to use it rather than remove it, although I'm not sure what the purpose of it is. I would assume that it is okay for use in an RV since it is approved for use in a house.

A duct tape with a black butyl layer that molds around small cracks, dents, or screws is shown here. This stuff may be expensive, but I used it 10 years ago and when I redid my ductwork this year, I could still see it, all the other silver tape or paste had disintegrated, broken, cracked or whatever else wrong with You may need to buy it a bit more often, but it lasts, it works, and you only have to use one strip around every seal you are going Furthermore, it is very easy to handle. You shouldn't miss out on this.
While the mastic layer peels away from the aluminum backing somewhat freely, I have not experienced that with the better mastic foil tapes I have used. In addition, I found it did not stick as well as other mastic tape I previously tried. This isn't bad, but it isn't great either.
This product is a bit more expensive than a tube of Mastic but much easier to use and doesn't mess up your paint. In case you are doing it yourself, here are some tips Now that's a breeze (pun intended) in sealing ductwork.
In order to make my outside unit work, I needed tape. There is damage to the tape on there after 2 years under the sun. A product that caught my attention on Amazon was tried and tested. The product worked as expected, although it was a little I wasn't sure if I needed so much, but I wasn't sure what I needed,.
This is a great product!.
There is a leak under my house from metal ducts that are over 40 years old. I have begun to fix the problem. A lot of standard duct tape was used on the install years ago, and all of it has disintegrated since then. The 33 dollars I paid for Shurtape SF 686 UL Butyl foil tape and water based duct sealant was a good investment. Even though it seems expensive, I do not want to crawl under the house ever again in order to repair leaks. I found this tape to be amazing. This seed tick is made of thick foil with a rubber interior that sticks to your fingers. There was a 10 dollar item ($11) of ipg 698 ul 181 tape at Menards that reminded me of the tape you would use to pack a box for the postal service. I decided I needed to find something better, and I found it here. A real thing can be told from a fake. Now that I have an acetone can to clean the surface of the ducts, rubber gloves, and a good flashlight, I can begin the cleaning. I wish you all the best. Updating 5/9/2019, I used a roll and have started a new one. It has gone up from $39 to $40. A discount of 99 to 62 cents. I don't know why the price jumped, but this tape continues to impress me. Even though I had found it cheaper on another site, the price was still $7 more per roll than it had originally been. Although Shurtape 686 still remains the best duct seal on the market, its cost is a bit high. Look around and watch for a price drop I have seen the item much less expensive.
