Questions & Answers

The product you mention seals skylights well, but is it the best product for the job?

I agree! There is no better product on the market. On a sailing boat I used it to seal acrylic hatches. My trick was to tape the area you did not want the sealant to attach to with painters tape. Use a generous amount to ensure that it will push out around the seams, then let it sit for a few minutes. For the treatment to be completely effective, it may take a week or more. Once the excess is cut, take a razor blade and cut it off.

What are the benefits of using it as an expansion joint between concrete slabs?

This Dow Corning 795 building sealant is a medium modulus product designed for use in structural and nonstructural glazing applications on glass, metals, and plastics. *50% joint width movement. you have a deep joint, we advise using a backer rod in the joint prior to applying

What are the mold resistance levels?

So far, I have not found any mold or any problems after I applied it to my boat windows 2 seasons ago. The seal is tight and there is no leakage. The polycarbonate material replaces plexiglass

Is this suitable for caulking the surround of a bathtub when using it in the shower?

In a way, I suppose that's the case, but it seems a bit overboard. It is useful as a commercial caulk or as a marine sealant. I have concerns that it may not dry as flexible as some lower-cost formulations for the bathroom. Because tubs are very heavy, you need a little flex around a tub so the tub does not pull away from its

It is no longer active Symptoms are unlikely to be cured
3/5

I wasted weeks of time waiting for this to reach me. It arrived and I used it within a week for the sealing of a boat window. It took me a couple of days for it to skin over, so I became worried. A few days later my eyes spotted the rubbed away expiration date and batch code on the bottle. We are still waiting for the stuff to cure two weeks later. The last thing I want to do is to have to scrub this stuff off the window and frame and do it all over again, but it looks like that is what needs to be done - they Thank you for making a Make sure the expiration date is not rubbed off and return it if it is. The stars are zero!.

I have tried several sealants and this is the best
5/5

isn't actually designed to seal windows to frames. It was instead invented to seal windows to frames in high rise buildings. (The boat is used). The lenses in the hatches of the boat have been leaking since day one. As part of our repairs to the aluminum frame this year, we replaced the lenses and sealed them It has been done before with other sealants, at least 3 different brands, and all of them have In the process of removing the sealant, the frame and lens separated. reason is the apparent difference between the expansion of the Despite elongation of 50%, 795 will continue to work. Thus far, the hatches have not sprung any leaks, and the lenses are firmly affixed. 795 is only negative in that paint will not adhere to it, and it makes a mess when working with it.

It's a bomb Windows on boats should be sealed with water-proof sealant
5/5

These silicone products are really easy to work with, given that they are silicone based. This rubber caulk works like an oil-based product and doesn't have the slippery coating when it touches everything it touches like ordinary silicone caulks. It sets up rather quickly and cures to an incredibly hard A fiberglass sailboat had acrylic windows that I was sealing with polyurethane. There is a near-unanimous consensus on the interwebs that this is the stuff to use. The reason now makes sense to me! It was mentioned that there was an expiration date in some reviews. I only got mine two months ago and it has not let me down. An expensive high-performance product comes with a high price tag, but it delivers what it promises.

This port is ideal for installing boats
3/5

The rimless plastic ports of a boat should be installed in this manner. I had to set up the first tube about a week after buying it. Is it old? It did not appear on the tube when it was viewed. In the second tube, a visible date was displayed and it had taken two days to set up. Setting for a longer period of time Having a longer up time is better than a shorter one, since you can tighten the bolts to get the desired thickness of the gasket, but a week is a long time. The tube will have the date on it.

Window repair is a breeze with this product
5/5

It was used to replace the broken double hung CertainTeed window glass in a recent (2009 manufacture date) double hung window. New glass was laid in after the old glass was removed, a bead of adhesive was applied around the perimeter, then new glass was laid in. A good setup time makes it possible to adjust slightly while being tacky enough to clamp the glass without needing to clamp it. The best news I could have hoped for. The newest update for 2019 is As I mentioned in my original review, I have now had 6 more windows and a sliding patio door experience seal failure, and on each occasion, I repeated the process as described. The product is still just as good as it was when I first used it.

There are no leaks and it is easy to use
5/5

The kit was used on my boat for setting up a deck hatch. Over silicone, I really liked the way this caulk worked. I liked how well the adhesive stuck and how easy it was to use. Adding a little torque to the bolts made it fit even tighter after a week. A leak is not present.

A great product! It works just as well as it says on the label
5/5

This product is absolutely amazing! It works as it's advertised and follows the instructions very well. With it, I can control movement and that makes it perfect for windows or anything that may move. As you use it for adjustments, there is some wiggle room, but it is not so long that it takes forever to finish the project. Because he recommended something else which was not up to my expectations I had to tear off the old trim and replace it, and I did not have to pay for window replacement. As a result of my OWN research, I chose this as my first choice. I am happy with it.

The leak has been fixed
5/5

I am satisfied with the way the calk gunned out. A sealed seam has a harder hardness than kitchen and bath caulk. It will be interesting to see if it can withstand a 50 degree temperature change in the shower next winter. During a 100 degree temperature change on sailboats, it is expected to hold up well. Ensure that the validity period has not expired. The material will not cure if it is out of date. It was 8 months until the tube expired when it was delivered.
