Is this mandrel suited to drum sleeves of a certain size?

When I bought the Shop Fox D2722 Mandrel I also purchased the Shop Fox D2677 Drum Sander Set, but I returned both items because the threaded end of the mandrel was too narrow to fit the washer, making the rubber drum

This mandrel will be able to work with an 8" sanding sleeve, right?

The answer is 4, not 5. The sleeves measure 5"

Are there any chances that it will fit a 1/2-inch drum? Are you sure it will stay put?

Nevertheless, they only did about half as well as they could have. So, I used this CNC mandrel and its pieces, and it turned out perfectly after I measured and matched up the bearings, and after I put an adapter on In the end, it is doing extremely well.

This is the first time I have purchased 5" drums. I own a Shop Fox spindle sander and I am very pleased with the result. There are still times however when I have to sand the edges of a piece that is too big for Although the least expensive spindle sander I could find is roughly $60, I thought about purchasing it. In one of my drills, I use this spindle. A few bucks less than $10 will get you all of this.

A sturdy construction

The drill bit drills true and is strong in the chuck, leaving no distortion It is the vibration of the center. didn't come with a lock washer to keep the nut from coming loose while it was being used. I note in my review of the rubber sanding sleeves and drums it is designed to be used with that the rubber sanding sleeves simply cannot be bothered to be tightened down hard enough to keep them from slipping.

As described, the tool works. In spite of its length, it is rigid enough to sand inside curves of It won't be possible to firmly hold the drum in place when the 1" diameter is tightened. As it goes up or down, it walks. It can be easily There needs to be a washer with the correct ID and OD to add a little more squish on the rubber hub so that it grips the drum more securely. In spite of a few problems, I consider it to be a worthwhile purchase.
