How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

When you use an aluminum oxide grinding wheel, you'll know that it requires a little bit of maintenance to keep the wheel true and flat. In most cases, this would be done using a wheel dresser. When using a CBN wheel, you won't have to worry about this chore since it stays flat and true for its entire life. A CBN wheel simply does not wear, so you can sharpen it for years to come. No more grinding, no more dressing. The grinder is ready for sharpening! Turn it on and start working!
PUNCTURE The Savannah 8" CBN Grinding Wheel is made from solid steel, bonded with cubic boron nitride (CBN), and forged from a single piece. You can use CBN wheels to sharpen a wide variety of tools, such as turning tools, chisels, plane irons,
The wheels each measure approximately 8" in diameter, with a standard bore opening of 5/8" that fits most standard A Savannah 8" CBN Grinding Wheel can only be used with grinders that measure 8". A flat sharpening surface of approximately 1 12” wide provides you with enough sharpening surface to sharpen most tools of any size.
There will sometimes be a little vibration in the wheel when the seat of the shaft bumps against the shaft shoulder near the motor housing. This can also occur if the shaft key is not tightened properly. When this vibration occurs, it will affect the accuracy of the If you experience this problem, the self-aligning spherical washers included in the kit will do the trick to eliminate any vibration at all, making sharpening a much smoother process.
We use heavy industrial electroplate methods to embed Cubic Boron Nitride particles in to a precision machined steel blank for our CBN wheels. Weighing about six pounds each, each wheel is made from steel. For greater efficiency, we recommend using a slow speed grinder (1750 to 2000 rpm) with enough amperage to handle the additional Designed to sharpen hardened steel and carbide steel tools, these wheels are made from high-quality steel. If you attempt to sharpen non-heat treated steel, aluminum or other soft metals with a CBN wheel, the wheel will be damaged

Questions & Answers

Does the wheel have a steel or an aluminum rim?

There is steel.

Can this be used with a rikon 1 hp Why does the 808 grinder not work?

There is a 1/2 horsepower slow speed machine with a speed of 1725 RPM, model no. I have no shield cover on mine and it works great. Thanks for trying this wheel. I hope it works for you. When used to turn tools, the CBN wheel does an amazing job!

Does anyone using this to sharpen their tig tungstens? What do you think of it? How has it held up?

It works beautifully on the wheel without any obvious additional wear as long as you drag the tungsten across it

The only grinder that will work is a heavy duty, 5/8" arbor grinder that runs true
5/5

It is best to keep the speed at variable or low. There will need to be either removal or modification of the wheel guards to allow for We recommend wheels that are 5" wide.

The rim of this wheel has the offset in the center of the rim, which is different from most wheels
5/5

One face has a solid surface, while most others have offset hubs. On the other hand, it allows a truly flat grind on your tool if you would like the flat side to have a 5/8" CBN edge. In its new state, the 180 grit is quite aggressive. It hasn't been long enough for me to know how long it should take to "break in," but things I've read suggest that it shouldn't take very There is a +/- of play between the two teams There is a song by the name of "002" that I think is quite It had to be rotated around the motor shaft to find the best spot, but this is most likely due to a problem with the motor shaft itself. It was not possible for me to get the conical washers from another source but I was able to buy machined washers that would have fitted the motor shaft perfectly. It's not necessary to use the washers that you used with the alumina oxide wheels (and they are not always Upon receiving the CBN, I will be very happy if it lasts as advertised (as the seller claims).

Bring your tools up to a super sharp standard! For lathe tools, this wheel works perfectly with the Wolverine sharpening system
5/5

You need almost no effort to make a razor-sharp edge on your tools. Neither the tool nor the material conducts heat, so the cbn material keeps the tools cool. Even with the higher up-front cost, the ease of grinding is worth it due to their long life.

This is the review for the CBN wheel
5/5

Even though my grinder came damaged by the mail carrier, I still got the right fixture to sharpen my CBN wheel. My wheel is great and sharpens any material I can find. Just make sure you use it responsibly and don't sharpen anything you're not supposed to. It is used primarily to sharpen my turning tools as well as to clean these My time and effort were worth it.

An enormous size
5/5

I was surprised at how large this thing was but I believe it could fit (at least in my DeWalt 8" bench grinder) with the safety guard In fact, maybe there is no need for safety guards with CBN wheels, because they are not going to break. You need safety guards if the stairs are icy, even if the guards are in place. My favorite part of this is that it takes metal and makes it disappear. There is a warning on the label not to use it on softer metals, but this is a joke, I believe.

It is a good replacement for the 60 grit aluminum oxide wheel I had
3/5

Definitely a CBN wheel to behold! There's a lot of weight to it. Much heavier than I thought it would be. It has a slight wobble, but I am fairly certain that the problem lies with the grinder, not with.

There is no truth to the wheel
3/5

It was as smooth as glass on the left side, but had a lot of vibration on the left side. In exchange for a refund, I am returning the wheel. In addition to the 15% restocking fee, Peachtree Woodworking no longer has my business. The Chinese product should not have been purchased, so I should have spent a few more dollars instead.

I returned it because it was the wrong size for my grinder, although it looked nice and performed well
3/5

My grinder could not fit it. It arrived quickly and looks impressive, but I was not able to attach it to it.
