I'm not sure if it's airtight, but I do know that I live in Hawaii, where most days are between 70 and 80 degrees. My house has a humidity level of 80%. I buy my rice in large 20-pound bags, which last us three weeks. 6 months. I haven't had any issues with mold or bugs in the rice in over a year and a half, and I'm currently cleaning up weevils from my pantry where the rice is kept, and there are none in my rice.
With the lid up, the height is approximately 14 inches. 5 inches.
I'd say about 20 pounds of cat food because it holds 20 pounds of rice, but the cat food is a little bigger than Ray, so maybe a little less.

Unfortunately, this item is neither airtight nor bug-proof. Pantry moths are a constant struggle where I live in the Southeast United States. The hinged lid allows them easy access to this container. Also, if you're not careful, the contents of the container can get trapped under the hinged area on top of the lid, making it difficult to clean without removing and cleaning the lid completely after each use. Another disadvantage is that because access is via the container's top, you can't stack anything else on top of it. Containers with angled front lids that allow stacking and do not have the problematic hinged area would be my recommendation.
I bought this to store rice, but after a month, I discovered maggots both inside the container and on the shelf. The red lid apparently doesn't provide 100% seal - The lid has a slight curved shape to it. There is a space between them. The gap is larger than the silicon seal's thin layer. I'm very disappointed, and I'm not going to use it for food storage any longer. I'm not sure how I'll get it back now!.
Wow, the fact that I'm so enthusiastic about containers is depressing, but it's true. I've been looking for a way to store the large bag of Jasmine rice I get from one of our local larger bulk stores, but I couldn't find anything large enough to hold the entire bag, and if I did, it would be too expensive. This grain storage container is large enough to hold an entire bag of rice or any other grain. It'll be big enough to fit the whole bag in there. The container itself is of good quality. It's not a flimsy, breakable plastic. The lid closes securely, and a small red scooper is included for added convenience. I'm very pleased with this purchase and the brand; I've also purchased a few other storage containers and have been equally pleased with each one. They're of excellent quality, perform admirably, and are reasonably priced. It doesn't get any better! (Note; In the photo, there is only a quarter or more of a bag of rice in the container.
This was purchased so that I could purchase the Costco 20 pound bag of Jasmine rice. I love rice, especially Jasmine rice, but I kept buying the tiny little $8 bags of Jasmine rice, despite the fact that Costco had a 20lb bag for $17. What am I doing with my life at the age of 99? " That's it. You have no idea how much weight is lifted off your shoulders when you're preparing dinner because you know you have 20 pounds of rice ready to cook and you don't have to do awkward math to downsize your recipe to 3/4 of a cup because you forgot to buy rice again at the grocery store. I wish I was as obsessed with another type of dry grain of legume as I am with Jasmine rice so I could stack more of these. It's the perfect size for my pantry.
This one, too, did not disappoint. I keep cat food in this container. I'll be able to stack their dental chews tub behind the lid in the back. There's no need to be concerned about the lid dislodging or the lid's clasp being too loose. The opening is just wide enough to pour into and scoop out of without difficulty. A one-cup measuring cup was included. In my photo, I have a 1/4c. Please accept my apologies for the strange video that follows: This one is a cinch to tumble- handed. Because there is no assembly required, it is simple to put together. The seller's package was delivered on time and in perfect condition. I would place another order with them. Once again, komax comes out on top.
I was let down. The gasket that seals the opening cover is completely inadequate. When I first opened the cover, it popped out. When I tried to reinstall it, I discovered that it was about an inch longer in circumference than the track. It just doesn't work. It's not even glued down.
This isn't going to hold 20 pounds. I'm about halfway through a 16-pound bag of cat food. The container is nearly full. I believe I'll require two. It's all right otherwise.
I purchased a few of these to store 50 pounds of flour. The lid is well-secured, which I like. It comes with a 1 cup scoop and has a hinged small lid for scooping out the product. They're a good size, and I like that they'll fit into my cabinets easily.
