Questions & Answers
If I'm going to stuff and frost 12 cupcakes, I prefer the 18-inch pan. If I do more of them than the twenty-first, I'll make a total of twenty-one. The bag itself is fantastic, and if I had to choose a size, I'd go with the 18 because it's right in the middle. Also, when doing umbre frostings, where you paint the coloring onto the bag, the 18 is easier to work with.
No, you'll have to do your own cutting. These are one of my favorites because they are large and easy to hold.
They're just regular piping bags. I believe the 45-degree angle is referring to the bag's side. Unlike Wilton bags, which are V-shaped on one side and angled on the other, these bags are straight on one side and angled on the other. It's difficult to explain, but they operate similarly to a standard piping bag. They're a little thicker than Wilton bags, and I like them a lot.
YES! Bags can be used without the use of tips. To begin, simply cut a SMALL hole in the tip and adjust to your needs.

If you're frosting a batch or two of cupcakes or embellishing a cake, the Daymark disposable pastry bags in this 18-inch size are a good size to go with. The best part about using these is that you don't have to clean up as much as you do with reusable pastry bags because you simply remove your decorating tip or coupler and throw it away when you're finished. br>br>The plastic used is sturdy enough, though not as pliable as the plastic used for food storage bags, as it is with the other pastry bags in this product line. Because you cut the small end off the bag to insert the tip or coupler, they can be used with or without tip couplers, and they can also be used with small, large, and extra large decorating tips. br>br>Keep in mind that the actual in-depth in-depth in-depth in-depth in-depth in-depth in-depth in-depth in-depth in The amount you cut from the tapered end will reduce the size of the bag when it's used, so an 18-inch bag will actually be a couple of inches shorter when it's used. If you're going to do a lot of decorating on a big cake, you might want to go with the.
PROs
- thick, long-lasting plasticbr>br>CONSbr>- Because they're thick and tacky, it's difficult to fold them back and twist them to tie them. br>- Because it's so long but so narrow, getting buttercream to the tip can be difficult. br>- COMING OFF A ROLL — the seams used to keep this on a roll are AWFUL. FOR TIPLESS WORK, IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED. When the plastic is sealed and then perforated, it creates an extra margin. This results in excess plastic, which obstructs tipless operation. It works fine/well with a tip, but I don't use tips because I do a lot of colors for sugar cookies.
- Also, due to the tackiness of the plastic, peeling the roll off is difficult. When you try to get the next bag, the roll goes crazy, so the box is useless. Because of the tipless issue, I'm actually going to buy a new bag.
I use these to pipe marshmallows and I love how big they are! They're almost big enough to hold a full batch of marshmallow batter, which is great, and I like how they're rolled in such a way that they stay rolled. I've bought other bags that come with a "dispenser," but the bags don't work well with the dispenser because they're either loose or simply fall out due to the dispenser's poor design. The bags stay rolled almost too well in this sturdy box that converts to a dispenser. It's fine with me because it prevents them from unrolling and causing a mess. I also bought the smaller size to use for ganache piping, and I really like them! I'll keep ordering these bags as long as Amazon has them in stock.
It is possible to make it work. I had previously ordered these bags before they changed their name. They claimed they were of equal quality, but they aren't. The new bags have a better grip than the old ones, but the plastic is thinner, so thick icing causes them to balloon. They're ideal for whipped icing, soft buttercream, and royal icing for cookies or flooding. I use a canvas bag or a wilton disposable and use the double bag method to prevent ballooning when using thick icing, such as for flowers. On a positive note, I'd like to end on a positive note. I didn't have a single bust on me, despite the ballooning. I'm not crazy about the seam, either, but a coupler helps. Overall, I find them to be a good filler bag for the double bag method.
When the package arrived, it appeared to have been opened and re-taped. The bags are filthy in and of themselves. I wanted to try disposable bags in a roll because I didn't want to have to wash them after each use, but now I'd have to wash them first. irritates me greatly.
I was very pleased when I received my piping bags. Despite the negative feedback, I decided to give it a shot. Bag holds up well and is a good size, but I only gave it two stars because every bag I ripped off the roll was extremely sticky on both sides. I used five of each size and the result was still sticky. I'm not sure why; perhaps it's because it's rolled immediately after it's made, but I'm not sure. Bags will be returned and a new brand will be sought.
Because the bag was not slick, it was difficult to move the icing down to the tip's bottom. There is an excessive amount of friction. As a result, I dislike them and will not purchase them; additionally, the first few bags were filthy on the outside when I took them out of the box.
I love it when I can get a good deal on bulk supplies as a professional pastry chef. I keep a box of these bags in my cart in various sizes, and whenever the price falls below a certain threshold, I buy a box. I use them to decorate as well as to make French macarons. The 18" is my preferred size because the material is durable and I've never had a leak or a seam pop. I teach classes from my home and encourage all of my students to take advantage of them. br>br>I use reviews when shopping online, and I hope you find this information useful.
