That's exactly what I needed! My cats' food needed to be kept fresh in containers. The pour spout is fantastic; it makes feeding a breeze! Even when fully loaded, the bag feels airtight and the handle is solid. The smaller one has indents for grip instead of a handle. br>br>The only drawback is that when I pull the pour spout up, the larger opening pops open, spilling food all over the place. The More Birds 100 Super Tote had been my go-to storage container for birdseed. It was successful; Filling tube feeders was simple with its long spout. My only issue is that it only holds 5 pounds of seed, while the brand I prefer comes in a 6 pound bag. the bare minimum of bags As a result, in a small apartment, there was always leftover seed to store. The top was a good fit this time. But only in a hazy sense. As I filled the bird feeder, I tried to keep the top in place, but it came off, spilling hundreds of seeds. Because I was doing it on my terrace, the mourning doves swooped in and cleaned up the mess. (Now I understand what it was like for St Francis to be surrounded by birds. ) ) In short, the container is ineffective for its intended purpose, and I'll return to the More Birds Tote (which I wish was larger).
The large one, in particular, saves me a lot of time when it comes to refilling feeders, but I expect it to last for at least two years. This explains why the world will have to deal with so much plastic garbage for years to come. This set is ideal for storing bird seed. I keep a bag of nyjer seed (thistle) in the smaller one. It pours directly into the feeder from the spout. There was only a minor smear. I keep sunflower or safflower seeds in the larger of the two. This item is extremely durable. The following is my sole suggestion: Take care not to grab these by their lids. They are very easy to refill because they come off so easily. Pick it up by the handles to avoid damaging it.
This was purchased so that I could use the large one to store litter in the bathroom near the litter box and the smaller one to store food. So far, the big one has handled the litter well, and it pours out of the lid without breaking the seal. The lack of a handle, as noted by other reviewers, is a bit disappointing, but I'm scooping kibble out of it with a measuring cup anyway, so it's not a big deal. It's small enough to pour with both hands, or one if you don't have baby hands like I do. )br>br>It's not completely airtight, but it's getting there. So far, the kibble has appeared to be in good condition. But I only got my cat last week, so this is still a new experience for me. Holds a lot of seed, is very sturdy; however, the smaller one's ease of use isn't as good; they should have added grip strips for better grip, but it's still a great product.
It had been at least five years since the previous one had been replaced - or older. The small pour spout on this one is about an eighth of an inch too big. I doubt you'd be able to find a chimney in one of the feeders. If the vendor releases one with a smaller pour spout, please let me know.
