I've had mine for a few years and it hasn't rusted yet. However, mine is poorly constructed, and I would not purchase or recommend another.

Dragonlady, how are you doing today? That's a difficult question to answer because it all depends on how green or ripe the bananas are in the first place. However, I've discovered that using the hanger allows them to ripen more evenly and with less bruising. They usually last us about 5 days before becoming mushy, speckled, and blackish in appearance. I also like the hanger because it aids in the creation of my car charms and jewelry. I hang the chain on the hook to add my charms, bead dangles, and other embellishments; it's so much easier than trying to do it while holding the chain in my hand! lol It's of excellent quality! It's built to last, and the design prevents it from tipping over. It can easily accommodate a large banana bundle. I hope I was able to assist you in some way with your purchase!

I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so in this case. The bananas won't stay upright because the base isn't sturdy enough. They kept falling over, even though there were only a few bananas. I couldn't send it back because I'd already removed the tags (as is my habit). I ended up tossing it in the trash. I found this completely useless.
It was such a waste; ever since I bought this stand, I've bought a full bunch of bananas, and they've all been eaten! They don't go bad! br>Compared to the amount of bananas I've been saving, this stand was well worth the money! br>Although some reviews claim it can only hold four bananas, I have not found this to be the case. I can fit 6 ripe bananas in there and it will hold them very well. To demonstrate this, I've included pictures. br>This is a product I would strongly recommend!.
The product was cheap and did not hang straight; I only had it for about a month before the banana holder snapped off the base.
My banana tree arrived with the appearance of having been run over by a truck or having been welded together backwards. Never in my life have I seen such a badly deformed banana tree.
I bought it to use as a storage space for my work headphones, and I absolutely love it. Coworkers have given me numerous compliments on how well it fits on my desk. I considered purchasing a second one for actual bananas, but my counter space is limited. Although the base of the stand is most likely supposed to depict a banana, I've used it in the office as a moon (which has worked more than once). This product is excellent for either headphones or its intended use.
I'm not sure if this was ever polished or finished, or if it was broken and fixed. In any case, the hanger's top has a scratchy surface, and a piece of it got stuck in my hand like a needle. So it's not just a case of the product not being worth the money. It all comes down to the fact that this "banana tree hanger" is dangerous! I would not advise anyone to use this product.
As can be seen in the photos, the base is severely damaged and wobbly. The metal strip's ends aren't even in the same place. Congratulations, Home Basics; you're the reason I stopped shopping online. I'm tired of squandering my time by purchasing and returning defective, untested merchandise.
I bought it for two reasons: first, it was on sale, and second, it was reasonably priced. I despise squandering food (i. e. I despise throwing out expired food, and I despise how quickly bananas rot. This takes care of both issues. Using the stand added about two days' worth of banana goodness to my life. Normally, I would buy 5 bananas and the last one would be suspiciously brown when placed on the counter. I can get 6 bananas from the stand in 6 days and not have to question them.
