Thank you for contacting us. Because the anchor is 5/16 in diameter, a 5/16 drill bit should be used to drill the pilot holes. However, if you drill slightly larger than necessary, the anchor will not be secure. I'd start with a slightly smaller bit (such as a 9/32 or 19/64) and then hammer in the anchor to ensure a tight fit. Thank you, Nick. br>br>
Thank you for your interest in our product, Gary! The hooks can hold up to 10 pounds. br>Have fun, Nick. br>
The color in this photograph appears to be completely different from the color I have in my home. My skin tone is a cool rustic whitish brownish.

Tip for installation: Place the shelf against the wall in the desired location. After leveling it, draw a line across the top of the shelf with a pencil. Remove the shelf and place it on its back. Cover the hanging slots with blue painters tape that runs the length of the top. To mark the location of the screw, use a pencil to poke a hole in the tape. Take the tape off the shelf. Place on the wall, aligning with the pencil line you drew, and you'll be able to see exactly where your screws need to go the first time you hang it level.
I didn't hang it because it was a pain in the neck. To be safe, drill into studs in the center. I despise fake distressed items, so I painted it white; however, I'm not fond of the fake rusted hooks they used. Look at the image. Because I live in Western Oregon, there's no need to fake any rust, so I'll probably replace or paint the hooks. As described, the wood is solid pine. I'm not sure if the materials are worth $50, but it's almost ready to hang.
I wanted something that was made of real wood rather than mdf, looked rustic, and could hold coats. All of these criteria are met by this product. This looks lovely in my entryway with a picture of a beautiful sunset over the water and some starfish propped on the shelf, as I live near the beach. My husband also wants me to express his gratitude for the hardware you provided for hanging the rack, but he was particularly impressed that you included a "level" as well. It's not every day that you come across such a comprehensive package. Thank you.
It looks fantastic! The item is made of real wood, and the rustic, weathered finish appears to be genuine. br>br>My only quibble is that hanging the rack on the wall was a bit of a challenge. The drill holes on the back of the product are a wide range of sizes, ranging from 16 3/4" to 16 7/8". And you have to get it right because there isn't much room for error when it comes to the design. My first attempt was unsuccessful, but I was able to complete the task on the second attempt.
It saves a lot of time, and you can also mark your tape holes with a pencil and check with a level to make sure it's put up quickly and easily). br>br>The problem began when the first screw was driven in. After predrilling a small hole with the lowest setting on my drill, the first screw stripped almost instantly, necessitating the use of channel locks to complete the task. I drilled the tiniest bit to catch and then finished with a manual screw driver on the other, and I could tell it was starting to strip. br>br>If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to make sure you drive these slowly or get different equipment to support this shelf. It's a real bummer that the parts are of such poor quality for a piece that's in the middle of the price range.
They even include a small level to aid in the installation process, which is relatively painless. The distressed look is natural, the hooks are strong enough to hold even heavier winter coats, and the whole thing is well-made. I'm very pleased with this after attempting to install a less expensive particle board solution that failed. br>br>There's also a nice (small) shelf for storing items you don't want to forget on your way out. br>br>If you're looking for a way to get the foyer ready for the winter, look no further.
The product's advertisement and labeling feature a local craft shop, and the package included a thank-you card that reads in part, "We work hard to design and create beautiful handcrafted products. " So far, everything has gone well. A video background shows a woodworking craftsman planing boards at the top of the company's website. This is an excellent illustration. br>br>However, the box is clearly marked "Made in China" in large text, and the product's overall quality, while not bad, bears the hallmarks of hasty factory assembly. br>br>We are pleased with the shelf and believe we received exactly what we paid for, namely a Target/WalMart quality product delivered to our door. Many customers will doubt whether they received the advertised product, which is made of "solid pine wood to ensure sturdiness" and "hand selected wood to ensure great quality," according to the company's hype messaging.
I couldn't be happier with how well it matches my decor!.
