Thank you for contacting us, dear customer! br>I'm afraid this won't fit into a metal desk because there needs to be something to keep the screws from falling out. However, I believe you can attach this tray to a metal-framed table using straps or zip ties - It might even work at that point. It is determined by the frame. It's not our typical installation method, but it might work. br>I hope this has provided you with an answer to your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. In the package, there is an unsettling bonus item. Overall, this is an excellent product that accomplishes exactly what it is supposed to. br>br>I'm writing this review primarily because I discovered something unexpected in the packaging. When I removed the cable organizers from the box, a homemade box cutter (basically a large razor blade with tape wrapped around one end) fell out. Fortunately, I was unharmed, but it's concerning that a) the location where these are packaged employs dubious box cutters, and b) they are so careless that they occasionally end up in their packages. br>br>The bottom line is that you should buy this product because it is good, but be wary of what you might find in the box.
Over the course of a week, I looked into cable management wire baskets/trays. I looked at all the different types and brands. One thing I knew I wanted was a two-piece open design rather than a single piece, and there's a good reason for that. If you want to buy two monitors with a "desk clamp," you'll need to keep the center portion of the underside of your desk clear of any accessories. " Arm of the monitor This particular brand was perfect for the job. br>br>As you can see in the photos, they complement my black APEX 47" pneumatic desk nicely. I've set aside a spot in the center for the desk clamp mounted dual monitor arm, which will be installed soon. The trays are lightweight and have a nice flat surface for your power cords. Because I was worried that the length of the wood screws would penetrate the top of the desk, I used THREE included washers and only two screws per tray. This setup worked perfectly, and I couldn't be more pleased with the end result. br>br>Now everything will be neatly stored under the desk and off the floor. Two tie straps are included as well. This item is well-made, has a nice paint job, and is sturdy. It's held in place nicely by the two screws per tray. On both of them, I only have four holes. Multiple holes on the underside of my desk were not something I wanted. For price, design, and quality, this item gets five stars.
I'm a pretty nice guy in general, but as a photographer/videographer, there's only so much you can do with ten hard drives and TBs of data to store and back up. There are a lot of cables, and even if I can keep them organized, they still end up on the floor as a jumble of power adapters. br>br>I bought these and they're great, especially if you have a lot of surge protectors. Here's what I liked about them in particular: br>br>
- There are 9 mounting screws per rack and the rack is made of very solid metal. That's one out of every one. 5' long by 5' wide The washer feels extremely secure, and no amount of adapters you can fit in the rack will be able to put it under any stress.
- Two velcro straps are included with the bag. I chose this one because it came with a couple of straps to strap a surge adapter underneath/outside the rack, freeing up more space on top, which is especially important if you don't have any lying around. br>br>Some Points To Considerbr>br>- I wish the doorways were a little wider. This is only important if you're going to use something like a squid adapter on the bottom and then try to thread each arm through like I did. Because every hard drive has a fairly large plug, I can't use a standard surge protector, so I use a squid power adapter. The plugs could be pushed through one row of openings, but not the others. br>br>- The cardboard guide was cut out and taped to your desk, which greatly aided the installation. I'd clear the desk and turn it inside out if you have the ability to do so. It will be a lot less difficult. I did it by lying down on the floor and trying not to screw up, which was a pain, especially since each rack required nine screws. br>br>Overall, I'm pleased with this product for removing the clutter of wires, cables, and adapters from beneath my desk. The mess is still there, but it's now hidden behind a rack; I've seen a few others with fewer screws, and people have complained about having something that can easily be snapped off (due to the overhanging fulcrum). This one shouldn't cause any issues, especially if you mount it to a solid wood desk like I did.
Cable management on the desk I have a $500+ wooden standing desk, so drilling into it was a big no-no for me. I proceeded with extreme caution, and everything turned out perfectly! I strongly advise you to double-check everything. making sure the drill bit you're using is the right size I chose one that was nearly the same size as the screw (if in doubt, use the thinner bit first). To avoid accidentally drilling too far into the desk, I marked the length of the screw on the bit with tape. All I had to do was come to a halt at or before the drill bit's tape. br>br>It came with a large number of screws that fit into the gap in the wire basket where the screws are supposed to go. This thing isn't going anywhere because of all the screws, which is good because I've got two surge protectors in it right now. The open side came in handy because once everything was plugged in, I had to cram everything into the basket to make it fit. Because it was wire rather than solid, I was able to easily secure loose wires to the underside of the desk with velcro cable ties. It will still be a rat's nest to dismantle it. br>br> That wouldn't be the case if you spent more time cleaning than I did, but the purpose of this basket in my case was to simply get all of the loose cables and plugs off the ground, leaving the floor and wall beneath the desk nearly empty. This is a product that I wholeheartedly endorse.
