Because there were so many different answers to this question, I measured mine as soon as it arrived today. This is what you get if you remove the tray and the tool organizer slider and measure from the highest point (the tallest reinforcement strut along the sides or top): length: br>br>length: br>br>length: br>br>length: br> 18 1/2" x 18 1/2" x 18 1/2" x 18 1/2" x 18 1/2" x 18 1/2" x 18 1/2" x 18 1/2" x 18 1/2" 11" (the bottom front and back taper in 9/16", so you lose about 1 1/8" total at the bottom)br>Height: 13" tall inside, plus 1 1/8" extra space in the lid when closed (total 14 1/8" tall inside).
The drawers and drawer boxes have a much better overall construction. The new boxes are a little taller, so they won't fit on my van shelves where the old ones did. The new look is much more appealing to me.
They can't be used interchangeably! The ToughSystem boxes differ from their TSTAK counterparts in length and width. Also, the bottoms have a different shape. Both of them are in my possession.br> They don't fit together to form a stable stack that interlocks.
You want something I won't fit to taste like the new Craftsman modular system, which has a t-shirt adapter. You can't stack either one unless it's included in the system, and you can't stack either one unless it's included in the system.

I really like this system. br>All of the tough system boxes and wall racks were purchased by me. They've been transformed into a van rack. These are by far the best accessories I've ever had in my van. I work as a professional handyman and renovator. Aside from some minor tweaks and better use of the space behind the boxes, I'm not sure how to make the van more efficient. To make more room for large packages, I added some foldable arms to one side. Dewalt did an amazing job!.
DeWalt is completely oblivious to the situation. On top of a large box, I had the clear lid toolbox DWST08202 - As a result, it's approximately 18" off the ground. It collapsed after I slammed it. The handle was shattered and the glass was shattered all over the place. I'd be interested in purchasing the handle, but DeWalt does not sell it separately. br>br>DeWalt's only response was that I could return the entire box and they would assess it. If they believe the failure was caused by a manufacturing flaw, they will replace it. br>br>Needless to say, I won't be returning it. I can only imagine this causing me frustration and increased shipping costs. br>br>Sorry, DeWalt, but you get a big fat goose-egg. This one has an egg on it.
The handle broke off after the manufacturer ignored an official, formal request for warranty assistance. 5 months of use by a homeowner. Dewalt's warranty was discussed. So-and-so has filed a claim. speek. Photos have been sent. DEWALT IS NOT REPLYING AT ALL. br>br>AS A RESULT, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND EXTREME CAUTION WHEN BUYING THIS PRODUCT LINE. I only have one minor complaint about the drawers: they aren't as sturdy as they should be. To close, I need to lift the bottom slightly. Aside from that, this system performs admirably for all of my tasks. More will be added to my garage, which already has a large number of totes for parts.
I've always used cheap tools, but after being encouraged by my nephews (both of whom are contractors), I bit the bullet and bought almost the entire Dewalt 20v XR lineup about a year ago. I needed a portable storage solution to safeguard my new investment after spending thousands of dollars. I bought a Dewalt Tough System dolly as well as a few boxes to go with it. I liked it so much that I bought a second dolly and now have around 12 different sizes of boxes. I was initially pleased with my purchase, but since then, I've had several mishaps that have caused me to question the amount of money I paid for them and whether the durability matches the price! The first was the air vent on the top of the boxes. The weatherproof seals on this vent are designed to equalize pressure when traveling at various altitudes while keeping the tools dry. The first problem I encountered occurred when I left a few of the boxes outside in the rain. Despite the fact that these boxes are weatherproof, the vents still managed to leak even when the top vent was closed; fortunately, the box that leaked only contained hand tools, so I was able to dry them out without too much harm; however, if this box had contained any of the power tools, it would have been a different story! The second problem I had with the vent was when it came off in my hand as I was closing it. A "c" clip on the bottom of the vent holds it in place. If you twist the vent too hard, the clip pops off, and the entire vent pops out, which is difficult to replace. After a few instances, the c clip begins to pop off with increasing ease, until you can no longer close the vent tightly enough to keep water out! The boxes are advertised as virtually indestructible; however, this is not the case, especially in cold weather! Despite their thick and heavy construction, the material used to construct them becomes brittle in cold weather, even moderately cold weather. As a result, pieces of them (particularly the feet) have broken off simply from the moderate impact of sliding a couple of feet in the bed of my truck while cold. Given the amount of money I've put into this setup, this is extremely discouraging! br>There are a few key factors that are pros or cons when it comes to the DWST08203 Large box!
Pros: br>It looks great and matches the tough system dolly storage system perfectly. br>It's substantial, but not excessively so! A circular saw, jig saw, grinder, and all necessary accessories can be packed into a single box that can be moved by one person. br>It's made to be tough and waterproof to some extent.
Cons: Even when it isn't loaded with tools, it is quite heavy. It can be heavy enough to strain your back when loaded with tools, or too heavy to carry around without the dolly! It has some limitations, especially when cold, and it lacks the organizer insert found in the XL version. Despite the fact that the brackets for it are molded into the case, you can't order the organizer! Unless you find it on sale, it is quite expensive for what it is.
