It has a rubber type coating, so it should be fine in the freezer (rust proof). It's similar to or the same as what's found on a shower caddy.
I wouldn't call the surface soft because it's a very durable product, but I can't imagine a cup hitting it breaking the cup unless it came down with a lot of force. say, if you were to fall out of a cabinet from a great height. If you're worried about this happening, you could cut a sheet of rubber-coated paper to fit. For added protection, apply a shelf lining product to the top of this rack.

I bought it for our garage refrigerator, where we keep frozen meats. as well as other bulk items There are no shelves in the freezer because it is an old fridge. This is an excellent way to organize and, more importantly, maximize space so that it is not cluttered. The shelf is very functional and comes at a great price. I strongly advise you to do so.
My freezer was starting to feel crowded, and this was a huge help in getting it organized. I was surprised by how sturdy this product is because I was able to stack multiple bags of frozen food/pyrex containers on top with no problems. br>br>If you have a crammed freezer in desperate need of organization and don't want to spend a fortune, look no further.
No assembly is necessary, and the size is perfect for my cabinets!.
These were an inexpensive way to organize pantry shelves and kitchen cabinets without having to pay a fortune to have a professional come in and install a similar product, and because they just sit on the shelf, they can be rearranged as needed and moved with you. They blend in with the cabinet interiors thanks to their white color, and the small plastic feet prevent the metal from scratching the shelves. This was a quick fix that makes cooking and serving a breeze on a daily basis.
Vegetable bags were strewn across the floor, and popsicle boxes were spilling and causing a shambles. It turned out to be a colossal flop. This shelf, on the other hand, has made a difference. I can now fit vegetables under the shelf and boxes on top of it, making it more organized. I wish the shelf was a little bigger, but for the price, I have no complaints!.
They arrived on time and perform admirably. I've now purchased a number of them. For our kitchen counter, we have two. One has a candy/sweets fishbowl, the other has a spice rack, and they both have totes that tuck under them. The remainder will be used in our recreation center. We have one that holds a fishtank display case full of rocks and fossil bones, which is moderately heavy (about 30 lbs), and two that hold game and streaming system remotes/accessories, with the streaming systems underneath and the remotes stored in an easy to find, organized manner. Our entertainment system is quite advanced, with about 10-years of development. With 15 items requiring ports spanning a TV and projector, having something simple and wired helps manage the cords and parts without appearing to be a massive mess. In comparison to a regular shelf, it promotes airflow, which means the systems are less likely to overheat or become clogged with dust. I'll probably buy more of these shelves in the future.
One of the leg caps was missing when it was delivered. There was no damage to the shipping box, and there was no cap. It's now unstable, but in this covid pandemic, a trip to the UPS store to return it isn't worth it. Wish I hadn't bought this crap. A better option might be found at the dollar store.
I had intended to keep it on my counter top, but it's far too light and wobbly to keep it visible. It's possible that mine was damaged because it was packed in an inconvenient manner. I can see this being useful in a pantry, but I'm sure it'll shift around every time you put something on or take something off of it.
