It's an understatement to say that this structure is solid and stable. This is well-made and will last a long time; I've attached a photo and discovered that I own a lot of DeWalt tools. I try to avoid buying everything from the same company because it makes you look like a herd of lemmings. However, after conducting research prior to purchasing and reflecting on my own personal experiences, I have decided to purchase additional Dewalt products.
I purchased two of these for my garage workshop, and they were incredibly simple and enjoyable to put together. When you're putting it together, it feels very light, but once everything is put together, it's built like a tank that won't move. In the near future, I will undoubtedly purchase more.
The first thing I noticed was the bumpy paint job, where the paint was thin and I could see the color underneath. The next problem I encountered was when screwing the two vertical beams together with the supplied bolts and 4mm hex key and 4mm hex bit. The bolts and hex key were both of poor quality and did not fit together tightly. Before starting, the bolts appeared to be a little stripped, and one of them was even bent. Worse, the inside of the threads had been painted, making it difficult to screw it in. All of my vertical beams are loose, and I can't remove or tighten the screws because they're stripped. The self-support straps simply lay across the frame and will rattle around if I do any work on top of them. br>The wire grids are simply laid on top and secured with four grid clips that were a pain to install. Prepare to drop them a few times before they finally clip in. My wire racks weren't completely level. DeWalt could have spent a few more dollars on the vertical beam feat and top covers. It's just a piece of thin plastic that easily pops off. It looks good once it's put together and, despite the missing bolts, it's quite stable. I wanted to return it, but repacking and mailing it back would be too time consuming.
I actually have an automobile engine block on the bottom shelf that isn't deflecting or bending the rack at all. Because I store heavy items such as engine heads, manifolds, and injection/intake components on the shelves, each shelf is built to withstand bending, tipping, and compression. This shelf system is HEAVY DUTY, to say the least. On the second shelf, there is a 60 horsepower outboard motor that does not cause the shelf to deflect. I have two Dewalt pegboards on each side loaded with tools and have had no issues with support; this shelf weighs about 62 pounds and has held up to anything I've thrown at it. This shelf can only be described as tough.
This storage rack is simple to put together and appears to be capable of supporting a substantial load. Nothing was damaged in shipping and all of the parts were well packaged. That's a major deal out here in the middle of nowhere. All of the metal parts have been powder coated in a heavy "orange peel" finish, which looks great and will last for years. br>br>This rack comes with a few small tools (see photo) to help you put it all together. They're fine and do the job, but that's about it. A 4mm driver bit is included with the rack and can be used in place of the allen wrench. If you have an electric drill or driver, the driver bit will make the assembly process much faster. br>br>As a result, even if you only have one person, the rack comes together quickly and easily. There is no slop or wobble when everything is tightened up. Although the shelves are only 3/8" thick, each shelf is supported by three metal cross braces (see photo). The shelves appear to be made of dark gray or black melamine, which makes for an attractive surface for sliding boxes or other items across. The selves are seated in the cross members of the racks, ensuring that they will not shift or move. To keep the rack from tipping over, it has a wall bracket. br>br>Overall, a nice rack that is far superior to wood and, at this time, far less expensive than building something out of wood. The money was well spent.

This shelving unit was ideal for storing all of my DeWalt power tools and other workshop equipment. br>br>I bought this shelf because the reviews said it was sturdy, and those reviews were correct! Each shelf has a 1,500 pound limit, and no matter how hard I looked, I couldn't find anything heavy enough to put it to the test. To summarize, the shelves are sturdy, do not bend or bow, and can hold everything I need. br>br>My only criticism of this DeWalt product is the lack of clear instructions for assembly. The user guide was printed in a very small font, and you had to experiment with a couple of pieces to figure out how they fit together. The shelf top brackets simply slide into place, but it would have been nice if they fit a little more snugly. The paint is lovely, but the powder coating has seeped into almost all of the pre-painted areas. screw holes were constructed I used a drill with the required bit, but if you have to use the manual Allen wrench, your fingers will suffer. br>br>It took me about 2 hours to fully assemble it by myself. If you want to save time, make sure you have someone to assist you. It makes it easier to install the crossbars. Also, make sure you place the shelves where you want them in terms of height the first time, as moving a shelf up or down will require disassembling a lot of pieces. br>br>Overall, I'm happy with it. It's well-made, attractive, and capable of holding a large number of items. In my shop, it's nearly a show piece!.
