I haven't tried to wash mine; I wouldn't call it "dishwasher safe" or "machine washable," but some parts of it appear to be surface cleanable with a damp cloth or sponge. The rigid bottoms of the cubes are either plastic or cardboard, so I'd be cautious if they're cardboard; however, the hanging rod and hooks are metal and should be washable if removed from the unit.
Dear customer, the color is more beige than black, and it will go with any freestanding garment shelf or closet.

This is the third one we've purchased. Our closets are small, so these organizers provided a lot of much-needed storage. The bottom-mounted hanging rod is unquestionably beneficial. My husband hung his second one on the same hanging rod as the first, so they hang vertically in his closet, one on top of the other. We hung them outside for a day or two before bringing them in because they had a faint odor the first day or two, but it was nothing to be concerned about. We're glad we bought them because they were well worth the money. Our expectations were far exceeded by them.
I relocated across the country and spent some time with my family. I needed storage, and all of the products I purchased were of excellent quality and came at a reasonable price; this item, as well as another closet storage item and the under-the-bed boxes with zipper, have proven to be extremely useful and well worth the money. I'm not employed by them, and I'm not being compensated to say this. I can only speak for myself when it comes to purchasing such items over the internet.
I bought it for camper use, but now that my kitchen is being renovated, I'm using it a lot more than I anticipated. I stacked pots on the bottom and all my dishcloths and dishtowels on top of a cookie sheet that fit in there. Plastic bags were placed on the side, and oven MITs were placed in the net holder. It's extremely well-made and durable, and it won't let you down.
I had a Costco shoe caddy/rack that left about 24" above it before the closet rod, so I needed something that was the same width and, ideally, color. This was ideal because it was the same width and basic color as the shoe caddy, giving it the appearance of being one unit more. It's well-made, as well.
It broke a day after it was hung, despite the fact that it was advertised as being strong enough to hold even heavy college textbooks. It didn't have any books in it. It was wearing a civilian air patrol uniform and only had one pair of shoes on it. We were disappointed to say the least.
I don't usually come on here to write product reviews, but I'm in love with this one! I purchased two for my two children (7 and 5) who share a room and need to store their belongings. I needed something lower because they couldn't reach the closet rod. This item provides them with enough space to hang their own clothes as well as additional storage space. In one square, I keep an extra set of (twin) sheets, a couple of towels, and larger sweaters, and in the other, I keep a spare set of (twin) sheets, a couple of towels, and a spare set of (twin) sheets. It's well-made and simple to put together. There are no flaws in this product, which I highly recommend.
With folded pants on both shelves and shirts hanging on the bottom rack, I keep it pretty full, and the velcro at the top can handle it!.
It's made of a good material that's both durable and attractive. I hang my slacks and pants on the bar. It is extremely effective and practical.
