This rack did not look anything like it did in the photo. The rest of the pegs were encrusted with an unidentified scaly green rot and one was thick with rust. The screws that came with the kit were rusted. The wood was nearly black in color, not brown as shown, and the shape was a rectangle with rounded corners rather than tapered as shown. Within 10 minutes of opening the package, I had it packed and ready to return. In the customer photo gallery, you can see a picture of me - beware!.
I was looking for a tie rack, and this is exactly what I found. I like how the belt hooks are separated and spaced. The fact that the hooks rotate to aid installation is also a plus. The only drawback was the poor quality of the anchors provided for installation. Because the fins that hold them in place broke as soon as I inserted them, I had a lot of trouble getting the screws all the way in (the anchor rotates, so the screw doesn't drive through). I finally solved the problem by driving screws into anchors while standing outside the door and then pushing the entire contraption into the door together. The resulting attachment to the door isn't completely flush, but it'll do for now. As a result, I'm giving four instead of five stars.
I needed a belt and tie rack with very specific dimensions to fit a narrow closet space (I would have settled for a longer rack that I could cut down into two shorter ones as long as it looked okay after I hacked it down to size-- However, I was unable to locate any suitable options. ) I also wanted something that was made of wood (or at least looked like it) and had a lot of pegs in a small space. On these points, this rack is ideal; it has a nice finish and is actually quite attractive to look at, despite the fact that it is hidden away in a closet. br>Things I wish it had in order to raise it to a five-star rating: I do think the peg heads are a little small (though not tiny), but that's because I'm using them to hang belts from their buckles rather than ties. I also wish the rack could be hung vertically in addition to horizontally (which is impossible due to the belt hooks' orientation), because I could think of a lot of other uses for it.
The screws that hold it against the wall are hidden behind indents. They come with wood caps to hide the screw in the holes. Nice - The caps, however, are too small to fit through the holes and fall out. It's possible to glue them in, but you'll lose access to the screws for the rest of your life. The caps should be slightly larger than the holes and tapped into them so that they can be removed later if necessary. The screw caps were poorly implemented.
It's sturdy, but the nails aren't curved upward, so it doesn't keep the belts in place; it's more of a tie hanger than a belt hanger, as advertised. I didn't want to return it because I had already installed it. It is, however, well-built and sturdy.
When we moved, I forgot to take down our old tie rack, so Amazon stepped in to help. This one looks great, but it could use a little more room. However, it is less expensive than similar items I found in big-box home goods stores. br>br>Like other reviewers, I used larger drywall anchors than the tie rack came with, just to be safe.
The hanger has a nice appearance and is simple and sturdy. I don't have any doubts about its long-term viability. The wood has a nice finish, but there are some issues with the mounting hardware that came with it. Screws are fine, but drywall anchors (which I used myself) did not work for me. The screw holes are covered with wooden plugs. My fit was a little loose, so I taped the inside to tighten it up. Overall, the quality is acceptable. I would buy from them again without hesitation.
This tie rack appears to be the same as the picture, but upon closer inspection, the holes are not drilled evenly, and one of the pegs is defective, with a sharp edge and cracking chrome. It will most likely snag a silk tie because it is so sharp that it nearly sliced my finger. I'm very dissatisfied with the quality for the price.
