Many of these units, in my opinion, have a problem. Mine worked fine, but there was always a battery drain on the unit, which meant the batteries only lasted about a week. I attempted to return the item, but it was after the Amazon 30-day return period had expired. I'm stuck with it because of the 30-day warranty period. I emailed the company directly, but received no response (which I expected). I cannot recommend this unit and strongly advise either purchasing another unit or keeping a CLOSE eye on the battery drainage issue and returning within the 30-day warranty period. Amazon gives you a certain number of days to do something.
The rod has a 1 and 3/8-inch diameter round hole.
The top and bottom pieces come apart when you attach the organizer to the pole as shown in the picture, so you don't have to remove the pole to do so, and you don't have to move the pole or racks in your closet if you use the supplied hooks.
It hasn't drained my batteries in any way. It's possible that the batteries you're using are the source of your problem.

This is the second time I've used a motorized tie rack. I had no choice but to purchase it because I already have far too many ties. The first one I bought was from a different brand, and it still works, but it is slow. This rack has 72 ties on it and it runs as if it didn't have any, fast and smooth.
Love it! The light is bright and does not remain on for an extended period of time. If you're paying attention, it moves quickly but not so quickly that you have to back up. As a result, keep your finger on the stop button and pay attention to what's going on. Oh, and it's also cute! br>br>The bottom line is that if you really need a tie rack or just like cool gadgets that are actually useful - this is the tie rack for you. get it.
It works well, is simple to set up, and is reasonably priced. It was a simple process to set up, and it has performed flawlessly since then. This is a far superior product to the one I had previously purchased from another manufacturer.
We purchased this as a gift for one of our sons, and he adores it. The installation was simple, and depending on the closet application, it could be done in a variety of ways. When getting ready in the morning, the light is a huge help in ensuring you get the right tie. With the extra storage space, he's excited to get more ties and belts.
I've bought three from Sharper Image and paid $79 or more each time, but they only last about three years before the clips holding it to the rack snap. This one slides about 6 inches across the entire bar. There are no screws required, PERIOD! It's well-balanced and securely fastened. It appeals to me. Yes, it's fast, but you get used to it because the sharper image one was too slow, and I'm still using the same batteries. So five stars once more! Oh, and it's fantastic on a wooden rod as well. I'm going to take a picture. It works like a charm.
It was simple to put together and secure on my wood closet rod. The buttons aren't very intuitive to use. Allowing the light to turn off should bring it to a halt. To turn it off, you have to press the power button, but the light stays on for a while, and it spins quite fast, which makes the buttons a little more frustrating. Belts stored where suggested cause ties to catch as they pass by, so 1/2 speed would be preferable. br>br>It may appear to be a negative review now that I've written it, but I enjoy it. br>br>Because it doesn't come with any, you'll need to purchase four C batteries.
I can organize my ties by color, and it's a fun little gadget with a light and an auto-lock feature. the ability to halt It easily attached to the steel shelving in my closet and is extremely stable. It does not sway or rock in the least. Because I'm always buying Ties, my wife thinks I should get another one. There are currently 83 people on the list.
I surprised my boyfriend with this as a Christmas/moving in gift because he had been struggling to find a way to store his growing collection of ties. It is a huge hit with him. The initial process of getting it set up was a little bit of a hassle, and the biggest complaint is making sure it doesn't tilt. He manages to keep it up right because it's only half full, but I'm worried that once it's full, he'll have to deal with it constantly tilting, which is more of an annoyance than anything, but it doesn't take up too much space, and he can now see all of his ties and doesn't end up wearing.
